Not what the topic name sounds like Razz For 7 or so months now i've been exhausting my limited knowledge of food recipes. By that i don't mean real home cooking. Each time i go to the store i just walk around for 20 minutes trying to figure out what to eat, but don't really want any of it as i've made everything i like and know about way too many times already.

Food rant out i guess Razz

They have these magical things called cook books, and they have instructions inside to give you guides on how to cook things.

Very Happy

I know, fucking unbelievable right!

Even if you dont have a cook book, use your taste and smell and just slap a load of shit together, sometimes it comes out so goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

Obviously i know about cook books, but i've never been much of a chef, so i find it extremely tedious to cut and slice 500 ingredients.

Make no mistake, if absolutely necessary i would do it. This was just a rant about getting sick of all the damn easily made food i used to love :/

I can't imagine not cooking different things all the time Shocked I love to cook, I find it relaxing (unless the wife tries to help Laughing then it becomes hard work because she is not the most patent cook Very Happy I am always looking for new stuff to make

But having said that, when I was younger I never used to cook a lot, so maybe it is something that some people develop with age.

Still find a nice cheap takeaway and enjoy Very Happy Very Happy

Google =the best cook book out there!

I absolutely love cooking myself, a good way to pass time.

Though when living alone I rarely can be arsed to cook anything decent and just eat whatever I can that is easy, kinda makes me wish I had someone to cook for, I can live off just about anything but if there was someone to cook for I might actually eat properly :l

Throw 400gram sliced chicken (breast) into a hot pan (preferably teflon or you'll require more oil, without (or very little) oil/fat and cover it.

Slice red and yellow paprika into big pieces. Slice 2 carrots into fine pieces. Take 8-9 mushrooms and slice em in 4-6 pieces (don't wash 'em and no need to peel the outmost layer if they are not very old). Take half a zucchini and slice it in 3-4mm thick pieces. Take a broccoli and break it into smaller parts, avoiding the fat trunk, which you can throw away.

Pour a big gulp of soj sauce in the pan, a spoonfull oil, a small spoon full of curry, grinded chillies and sugar each. Stir everything briefly and throw in all the vegetables and cover the pan again. Wait 1 minute and stir everything so that each piece of vegetable gets in touch with the sauce at the bottom of the pan and cover for one further minute.

Enjoy! (don't over cook it, it tastes best when the vegetables are still quite raw Smile )

Oh I apparently posted it aswell: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2410822#2410822

Looks a bit dry, but I must've missed all the nice juice in the pan, it is really tasty! Very Happy

had some chickenbreast left over yesterday.
sliced it up in little pieces and had to roast it again so it would get a little crust.
added some cooked penne noodles (which cooked while i was slicing everything up).
then add some olive oil and alot of garlic and spices like paprika, curry, pepper, salt.
at the end put 5-6 sliced up cherry tomatoes to it and finished.

tasted so good and was done in under 10 minutes

Was away for a while getting ingredients for meatballs which i'll make myself. This will be interesting indeed. Never done it before, but i guess i look forward to the challenge. Certainly going to pester my mother in the process seeing as i'm duplicating her work.

I think what you showed in that picture looks pretty good Pump. I might just give it a try some day. But for today, i'm covered!

Might post a picture of my amateurish dinner later, we'll see Razz

http://www.instructables.com/tag/type-id/category-food/

love to eat, so i learned to cook. my wife had some issue about my style of cooking (hey, what do we have here ? cow tongue. will add some onions, a bit of sauce, some chilli, a fast polenta and here we go.). she cook basically only with a cookbook near. i'm more of a free spirit. usually i can manage to make a different breakfast for 1 month every day, main ingredients being eggs. no day without eggs in the morning Smile.
another thing she accepted a bit vocal is that i cook almost without salt. in the first 2-3 month she added salt every day in her food, after that she got use to it.
the only place i put salt in is a teaspoon of salt for 1kg of bread.
i'm lucky cause almost all that i eat i grow at my country house. vegetables and meat.

I usually cook on 14th feb, but as I was ill with the worst cold ever known to the history of man I didn't this year.

So I am cooking tonight instead, nowt fancy just have some lamb breast rolled with stuffing, I am making a cauliflower cheese with some broccoli too and some roasted potatoes.

About 20 minutes prep time (and 90% of that is doing the cheese sauce) and then thats it, chuck the meat into the oven a couple of hours before and the spuds and cauli in an hour / 90 minutes before.

Nice, simple, tasty a piece of piss to prep and cook, and the best of all it means I am getting laid tonight ! Very Happy

well, is not tasteless. you just need learn to eat without the need to taste salt. because the food you eat usually gives you the salt the organism needs. even more if you bought canned goods for example.
first time when i cooked something in steamer i said the same. what is this tasteless crap ?
but now for example i prepare trout only on steam. a lot of what i eat i put in the steamer.
i get home, pour water in, put some beans, carrots, potatoes, some chicked breast/liver or fish in, put the clock on 30 min, fire and forget until dinner time.

@stige: If I use butter, I use a lot of it, because of the taste! In this case next to no oil is needed, especially not for flavoring. It's just there so that some of the vitamins in the vegetables can be released. Actually you can leave the oil out completely Smile

Have no clue which part of the egg is necessary to make meatballs. Don't even know if i squeezed it out. homecooking is beyond my abilities ;(

you dont need water like that.
put in a bowl meat.
add an egg.
cut an onion in small pieces, fry it a bit in a pan. (until become transparent, not until is black Razz.)
add the onion over.
get slices of bread, get one trough water or milk. squish the bread until water / milk is out. put that in the bowl to. repeat with another slice if the mix in the end is to liquid.
add crushed garlic with a bit of salt.
you can put some smashed potatos to. (or you can use the little holes on a kitchen grater, and in that case you dont need to boil them first).
now using your hands mix things in the bowl until they are even.
put some flour in a plate.
take a spoon or teaspoon, get pieces of your prefered size with it, rollit a bit in hands, after that roll it trough flour. put it on a separate plate.
after you make some, put a frying pan on the medium to low fire. oil should be at the half of the height of meatballs.
put meatballs when the oil is hot.
roll them after a while on the other side.

take them out on a plate with a paper towel over. (it will get the oil out.)
