|
 |
I`m looking for a 50' tv for pc/next-gen gaming for around 550-650$, preferably plasma since i wont find lcd 50inch in that kind of price range. Usage will be something like 70% console/pc gaming, 30% movies from pc/usb.
what i want:
- 50 inch
- full hd
- usb
- 2-3 hdmi
- some anti ghosting/burn system
- something anti glare would be nice but i will be playing mostly on evenings so thats not that important
- low input lag for gaming purposes
what i dont care about:
- smart tvs
- wifi, internet
- 3D
initially i was thinking about something like lg pn6500, any other suggestions?

Can anyone help, I could really use some advice as well, but I'm happy with a smaller one, 40 inches would be enough, other than that OP is pretty much on the spot with all of my wishes.

Code: | Game Mode – Almost there with Input Lag
Plasma TVs are usually recommended as gaming TVs, but Samsung's plasmas has a hard time with input lag. Even with the Game Mode enabled, our tests showed input lag at anywhere between 70 and 100ms on the PN51F5500. That's a little bit more than the target levels. It is important to note that I didn't think it was terrible. Okami HD on the Playstation 3 certainly wasn't unbearable, I notice the lag. Gamers who mainly play First Person Shooters will probably notice it a good deal more. A dedicated gaming TV should probably be found elsewhere. The Game Mode can be found here in the menus: System > General > Game Mode. |
Samung just sucks in plasmas

no, reviewer is just a bit retarded. input lag for PN51F5500 is 38ms. source http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/
there aren't many 51" TVs with better input lag, so get your facts straight before going on samsung hating parade.

When choosing panel, you should be more concerned about the panel type itself than input lag, how it handles ghosting and shit. I have some s-pva panel on my 40" Samsung (colors are absolutely nice and viewing angles), but if there is black scene in game, it gives horrible trailing (it looks absolutely shit). Input lag is what you feel, or can you even feel it with derptroller on console @ 30fps?
What goes for panel choosing... Atleast Samsung has insane lottery in their panels, one TV model can have several different panels, when you look some specific model in shop, then you buy it, you can get whole different panel to it (which doesnt look same at all). What i have seen, panasonic makes very nice panels, they are also very responsive and no lottery at all.

Same, i have been looking new HDTV for a long time now, since im getting PS4... And yeah, no luck so far. It would look absolutely shit if i would connect it to my Dell screen (since this is native 1440p). 27" is very nice size atleast for PC usage, when you sit front of it, im not huge fan of 1080p 27" tho, i can count the pixels on them. Tho i would prefer counting pixels instead of shitloads of ghosting/trailing/smearing...
