Haha!

I bought a gaming laptop because I thought it would be just like console but still computer at the same time. It's one piece of hardware and everything is preinstalled. Gaems have to work that way, no?

Besides, I'm a rich mofo and traditional PCs are for plebs and too mainstream. Embarassed

I mean, it can run all the games released before 2005, which are the best ones. Smug

Oh that crap, seems it gets worse every year. Even when you tell them you can build them a rig that outperforms it for half the price: "BUT I WANZ GEAM LAPTOPZ" not even gonna type all the nonsense that follows after their purchase

You can get custom laptop which is build to a nice clevo chassis, eguipped with GTX 780M (same as desktop GTX 680) and i7 haswell for about 1500e. For same price you get some shit MSI "gaming" laptop, which has i7 and shitty GTX 660M (which is like 100% slower than 780M).

Still... WHY would you?

What would be the battery life on that (and besides I'd guess you'd spend most of the time with it connected to the charger at home)? Oh and I'd bet the thermals on that baby would be lulzworthy Razz

And still more expensive than a desktop with a lot more flaws. It's better to say: a laptop that plays games rather than a gaming laptop xD

The temps are actually pretty nice on those Clevo machines, they use dual fan exhaust system (both GPU and CPU has own heatsink and fan). Very silent aswell, compared to those overpriced MSI ones which has one heatsink for both CPU and GPU and little fan (noisy and temps like in volcano). But yeah, you need always plug it to wall when gaming, the battery cant even give juice for the GPU and CPU to run at full speed. Those who travels alot, the Clevo ones are very nice, they can run everything maxed out and arent that expensive compared to those shit "gaming" laptops which you can get from market.

Some of you sadly missed my point.

Unless you're threatening <insert random dev here> with lawsuits because you were too stupid to read system requirements or want to run GFX intensive games with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 because you're not aware of the other GPU that's propably somewhere in there too. Among other stupid stuff ofc.

Well my work computer just happens to have a Quadro 2000 (2GB, i7 820QM, 16GB RAM) in it, potent enough for some gaming Smile But it does get hot and then it downclocks and you feel how your frames drop by 50%

But I still wonder if the downclocking is bound to the temperature or the general power intake so that the power adapter can't deliver...

Yeah I've never understood why people buy laptops for gaming. It's expensive as hell when compared to desktop and you still spend most of the time hooked to the charger anyway...

So better to simply buy a better desktop computer and then put the difference on a worse laptop for surfing while traveling or whatever. I guess if you're constantly riding the train or whatever for long periods of time I could understand wanting a laptop for gaming but other than that I don't get it.

maybe because some people get budget from work to buy laptop and dont want to spend money on a desktop which they will almost never use... maybe because it makes no sense to buy a laptop (needed for some reason) and a tablet and a phone and a desktop. First thing to go is the desktop. I cant imagine spending 1000 bucks on a desktop comp, i would use it maybe 5h a week.

Well soon as you can have a desktop that drives you to work, then that comparison would be a valid argument Smile

I bought my Lenovo Y500 for both work and gaming, dual GT650M in SLI = almost all games on ultra or highest @1920. BF3 quite playable on Ultra, but I prefer uber smooth on High. SRIV, Blacklist etc - on highest.

And it costs less than $1k

Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

Yeah its sweet laptop for its price if SLI is working properly, tho the screen is shit and build quality isnt the best, but nothing cant match its performance currently at the price point.
