Isn't it great to have your doctor tell you that you must take a certain type of drug?

Have had my arm operated on 4 times in the last year, and now I am a druggie.. Very Happy Will need to go through detox and this fall will be hell.

Meanwhile, my friend in another country that allows medical marijuana, has had 5 other surgieries, but instead of habit forming pain killers, he got a vaporizer and some weed from the doctor, only problem is short term diminished short term memory, but it comes back when you stop.

WTH can't they be allowed to do some more research on synthetic THC instead (active compound amongst other opiates in weed)?????? Barbaric, but I guess the big medical corps would loose a shitload of money on all their crap drugs then.

you can't always replace painkillers with weed, man.
but anyway, don't tell me you couldn't have scored weed without a doctor's help.

you should try letting go of the painkillers slowly, don't go cold turkey, unless you're a masochist Wink (weed will help, btw, so you could try getting some for when you plan to get off the opioids)

What drug you on man?

And if it is what I suspect, didn't your doc monitor you and when you didn't need them, ween you off in a proper fashion?

nah they rarely monitor or gradually take you off that stuff in hospitals...little story there:
2 years ago i was in the ICU for almost 2 weeks, written off for dead with multi organ failure, so they let me shoot my veins with as much morphine as i wanted - only had to hit a little button that regulated the infusion and well... i was quite bored, distressed, in pain and couldn't sleep, so you can imagine the end result Very Happy

and when i recovered and got pushed back to the "normal" hospital room, those nasty fuckers took away my happy button Crying or Very sad and switched me novalgin (non-morphium painkiller). imagine doing a cold turkey while being unable to move, having 10 tubes going in and out of your body and no sleep for 2 weeks^^

In Canada they do man. I take REALLY strong painkillers for my knee. Gotta take em till my knee gets fixed...again. Rolling Eyes

But when it comes to any meds that can be addictive, docs here in Canada (the ethical ones) monitor you like crazy.

And my doc is going to ween me off my painkillers when the time comes so I wont experience withdrawal symptoms. And she had me talk to other people who have been through the same thing and they said it works perfectly as I don't have an addictive personality (thats why I'm on these).

Most...and I must stress MOST Canadian Doctors are very vigilant. They don't want to solve one problem and create a worse one.

Thats one thing I really love about Canada. Our doctors and health care system.
We do have the best or at least the top doctors in the world.

nope...funny thing though, i've been in 4 car accidents (2 of them as a pedestrian) thus far, none of them managed to do more than scratch me a bit, let alone break any bones - it was actually an appendicitis wrongly diagnosed by 2(!) doctors as food poinsoning. which led to peritonitis, which again fucked up my kidneys after it was done with my colon. add sepsis and shock to that, they had to cut open my whole stomach 2 times. oh and i once nearly died after the 2nd operation just because some stupid nurse rolled my bed on my oxygen tube Evil or Very Mad

recovery was freakin fast though after nearly asphyxiating, guess i've got quite a strong will to live. i had to learn to walk, eat and shit Laughing again (all that while crying about my happy button), but they let me go home only 10 days after slicing my gut open the 2nd time. i will never forget that day...beautiful late summer afternoon, i looked like a zombie, but had a huge dirty grin all over my face. especially when i lit up my first cigarette for 3 weeks while staring at the sun.

That sucks about your car accident. Good to know your OK bud.

But don't say "Nope".....Canadian Doctors do do what I said in my previous post.
Simple as that, its a fact.

And if your Canadian and you didn't get that treatment and support, you need to find a new doc man. And depending what Province you live in, more and more doctors are taking people on and becoming their family doctor.
Personally, I wouldn't go to any doctor unless it was my family doc or one that works in her off (like 15 of em which I all know).
