What drug you on man?
And if it is what I suspect, didn't your doc monitor you and when you didn't need them, ween you off in a proper fashion?

Also, I've heard about the happy-button from a friend of mine that crashed with his motorbike. He was in comma for some time.

bushwacka wrote: | nah they rarely monitor or gradually take you off that stuff in hospitals...little story there:
2 years ago i was in the ICU for almost 2 weeks, written off for dead with multi organ failure, so they let me shoot my veins with as much morphine as i wanted - only had to hit a little button that regulated the infusion and well... i was quite bored, distressed, in pain and couldn't sleep, so you can imagine the end result
and when i recovered and got pushed back to the "normal" hospital room, those nasty fuckers took away my happy button and switched me novalgin (non-morphium painkiller). imagine doing a cold turkey while being unable to move, having 10 tubes going in and out of your body and no sleep for 2 weeks^^ |
In Canada they do man. I take REALLY strong painkillers for my knee. Gotta take em till my knee gets fixed...again.
But when it comes to any meds that can be addictive, docs here in Canada (the ethical ones) monitor you like crazy.
And my doc is going to ween me off my painkillers when the time comes so I wont experience withdrawal symptoms. And she had me talk to other people who have been through the same thing and they said it works perfectly as I don't have an addictive personality (thats why I'm on these).
Most...and I must stress MOST Canadian Doctors are very vigilant. They don't want to solve one problem and create a worse one.
Thats one thing I really love about Canada. Our doctors and health care system.
We do have the best or at least the top doctors in the world.

nope...funny thing though, i've been in 4 car accidents (2 of them as a pedestrian) thus far, none of them managed to do more than scratch me a bit, let alone break any bones - it was actually an appendicitis wrongly diagnosed by 2(!) doctors as food poinsoning. which led to peritonitis, which again fucked up my kidneys after it was done with my colon. add sepsis and shock to that, they had to cut open my whole stomach 2 times. oh and i once nearly died after the 2nd operation just because some stupid nurse rolled my bed on my oxygen tube
recovery was freakin fast though after nearly asphyxiating, guess i've got quite a strong will to live. i had to learn to walk, eat and shit again (all that while crying about my happy button), but they let me go home only 10 days after slicing my gut open the 2nd time. i will never forget that day...beautiful late summer afternoon, i looked like a zombie, but had a huge dirty grin all over my face. especially when i lit up my first cigarette for 3 weeks while staring at the sun.
so much for health

That sucks about your car accident. Good to know your OK bud.
But don't say "Nope".....Canadian Doctors do do what I said in my previous post.
Simple as that, its a fact.
And if your Canadian and you didn't get that treatment and support, you need to find a new doc man. And depending what Province you live in, more and more doctors are taking people on and becoming their family doctor.
Personally, I wouldn't go to any doctor unless it was my family doc or one that works in her off (like 15 of em which I all know).
