I created this topic to post some of the indie gems that no one talks here without creating separate threads.

So first:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1571940/Ctrl_Alt_Ego/

It's the immersive sim where you play as a consciousness in a simulation where you can take over electronical devices. It has a very Arkane's Prey vibe. As the author writes:

Quote:
Transmit yourself between bots and devices and exploit the innovative mechanics to solve problems your way.

Explore a deep, nonlinear, interconnected world, evocative of 70s/80s era low-budget British sci-fi television.

Shoot, sneak or get creative, be pacifist or executor.

Enjoy a darkly farcical story about the future of human consciousness.

If you enjoy immersive sims, there's every chance you'll enjoy this.

If you don't know what an immersive sim is, but you enjoy thinking for yourself and solving puzzles with no preordained solution, this game is for you.

If you're an experienced gamer looking for a fresh, engrossing experience, you just found it!

It's great albeit a bit wonky. If you liked Deus Ex, Prey this is for you. It doesn't look great but hooks you up fast.

Supraland and Supraland Six Inches Under

Supraland is crack cocain made by two autistic Germans. It's a mix of Metroidvania with Zelda with puzzles and it's fantastic.

You play as a meeple in a 9 square meter some kid's garden and try to stop a war in first one and escape from underground in the DLC-made sequel. It's funny (for a german made game), has fantastic gameplay and sucks you in. I don't know why no one is talking here about it.

The first one is a bit better than the DLC-sequel.

sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm

Lichenvale

One-man show, rides on Hexen/Heretic nostalgia but has some modern elements such as (double) dashing as seen in latest Dooms.

The latest update improved enemy AI, so it can get pretty challenging.

Since I was involved in alpha and beta testing, the first level is now pretty much the worst part of the game because it was created too long ago, while the game slightly changed the direction in the meantime (from boogeyman halloween ambient to something more grim). Later levels are very impressive design-wise considering the manpower.

Shadow of Doubt

"sci-fi noir city of crime and corruption. Think like a private investigator and take on jobs to earn cash on your path to catching a serial killer."

Quite unique Immersive Sim and will of course improve over time.

True, indie games are superior.
It's the focus on gameplay that makes them great. And, at least the good ones, offer something fresh like you haven't played before. These days talent is much more important to make a good game then a pile of money.

Currently playing mewgenics but it gets a little stale (also playing the game tired after a beverage kinda screws up my runs a lot)
Also deciding if i'm either going for Esoteric ebb or Banquet for fools.

Human Fall Flat is excellent in 2-player.

Another favorite we have is Heave Ho.

'Peak' was nice with friends for a bit. But kind of got boring after 15 hours. But they are adding new maps, items and other stuff from time and may check it again in few months.

As for SP games, I like me some small fun games every now and then. Recently played 'Loop Hero', 'Overlooting' and 'Brotato' and loved them.
'Slay the Spire 2' just released and might check it out, but after it gets 1.0 version. Haven't played the 1st game for some reason.
