Not too much faith in the writing duo (Mamoa & Thomas Pa'a Sibbett who did Aquaman), especially as it looks to be Momoa project promoting Momoa as lead/producer. Doug Jung joins as writer in the later episodes, who did decent treatments on Mind Hunter/Banshee and a few others.
First few eps directed by Justin Chon who did alright on Pachinko (Comparatively slow burn and dialogue heavy series), no info who did the rest.
Im probably most excited for James Everingham and Hans Zimmer producing the soundtrack, if trailers is anything to judge by, should be awesome.
Feels like a pitch to Apple after the whole See series winddown (A few of the same producers migrated over) to explore a pretty awesome theme, but imo it needed more heavy hitter crew. We'll see in a few weeks.

Sounds like one of those postcolonial projects, depicting the natives as some kind of noble savages. There's usually too much treading carefully involved in these kinds of shows and lots of screentime dedicated to idealized depictions of tribal rituals and lifestyle so they end up boring and forgettable. They do it for themselves to feel good, not to entertain the audience. But maybe I am wrong, we'll see.

Oh boy, nvm, its Mamoa making angry faces for 2 hours and being macho man. Hectic editing and almost Mexican color grading, for a beautiful location they couldn't pull through the beauty, barely any time spent on scenic shots, always talking or staring.
6 out of 10 Apocalyptos so far
