Apparently it’s nothing special and I also heard there might be an R rated Directors Cut at some point but I don’t think it’s confirmed.

Watching it right now it's kinda of bad. With laughable baddies, too much slomo, some fake slomo, bad fight choreography and fuck ton of exposition, unnecessary exposition.
Also rapey gay aliens. That's first 50 minutes.
But the Snyder cut will be great.

Edit: and finished it. Yeah bad, boring. Stupid fights, full of tropes, paperthin characters that are defined by their names. Basically a couple of characters want to stand against an empire that is shown to destroy whole planet from low orbit with atomics. Of course in next parts no one will bombard the planet where rebels are with nuclear weapons.
I mean just genius 10/10.

I just cannot even.
So there is literally five minutes of rebels and they just fuck off not wanting to fight the empire.

i think all the fame from his cut of the justice league went a little too much in his head where him and netflix are milking this shit and looks so obvious...whole army of the dead franchise, now this movie...this already has a franchise even before movie is out....
its impressive how fast he released this one, but at the same time the reviews are horrible and previous one also was mediocre at best.
idk maybe netflix gives him too much free reign so he has nobody to keep him in check, or he dosent have time to get things properly done or thinking to not put much effort cuz its a netflix movie so no theatrical run, even if it gets limited theatrical run its very short.
and all this bs with the 2 versions of the film, netflix wanted pg13 version so snyder gonna release an r rated 1h longer version later...
probably best for him to leave netflix fast and do proper big movies for the big screen before people still give a damn
i didnt watch this one yet and will probably wait for the directors cut cuz i aint watching this 2 times. they said soon so maybe next month so they milk 2 months from subscribers...

Oh a Zack Snyder movie 😄. for some reason superhero fans think this guy is good when he really just a hack Michael Bay style director. 300 would probably be the best movie he's done and that's all style over substance, this guy doesn't do stories just special effects.
Probably skip this one.

Zack had two movies I would say was ok, good objectively but I personally didn't like them - 300 and the Watchmen. But they were adaptations. His original stuff is plain bad.
Even if this had DC, what will it really upgrade to the vanilla Netflix version? There is a lot of awful photoghrapy. There is too much tracking shots in action scenes that focus on main hero and not really showing any action except some one running or shooting someone of screen. And there is just a lot of center shots, not much 1/3 or golden ratio. Some bad montage, some awful laughable shots. He maybe know what composition is but don't know how to use it, how to make a good scene. Did he shot it differently but Netlfix said no, make it shittier and lame?
There is no character development either, no real world building except there is an empire that lost its king and they are bad, cartoon like bad. A lot of tell but no show, or just unnecessary exposition.
He steals ideas but does nothing with them just copies them to other scenery and make them worse.

This is one of those cases where even attempting to watch the trailer is a really trying task 
I agree about the Dawn of the Dead Reboomake and Watchmen, those were the only two Snymovies that I enjoyed to a degree. 300 was essentially just a vapid source for memes, with the remaining conventional superhero hodgepodge starring Martha & co. being the logical continuation of a long-standing pear-shaped trend.

This had a $166 million budget shared with part 2 according to Wikipedia. Part 2 is scheduled for end April 2024. Part 3 and 4 probably will never see the daylights. With that kind of budget, able hands should be capable to create a decent mini series right?
