Quote:
The Night Manager is an upcoming miniseries directed by Susanne Bier and starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander and Elizabeth Debicki. The series will be in six parts and is set to release on AMC and BBC sometime in 2016. It is based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré

Former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is recruited by Burr (Olivia Colman), an intelligence operative. He is tasked to navigate Whitehall and Washington, D.C. where there is an alliance between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. He must infiltrate the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Hugh Laurie), Roper's girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki), and associate Corcoran (Tom Hollander)

I really wanna like this series but I can't help but think everything is happening too fast..so fast that it somewhat ruins it..I guess this is what happens when you try to squeeze a 600 pages book into 6 episodes..

They should have made it a 13 episodes tv series..

Probably couldn't as they had to pay the actors millions to star in it Laughing

I like Debicki, but don't see her point in the show. I hope she's not here just for those unnecessary scenes.

Episode 3 was okayish. Episode 4 was very good. Very Happy

You gotta love British shows.... they release bluray right after a season ends or in this case even earlier Laughing

I've finished it and it was OK, 7/10, but I still feel it was rushed as in everything happened too fast without proper character development, proper relationship development & story development..Well, they were there but it really felt like a good story was squeezed into 6 episodes .Good acting though and nice scenery.

and then I decided to read the plot summary of the book

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_Manager

and I was like... Mind Is Full Of Fuck

Wtf have they done? Why did they have to change the ending? The book's ending is perfect and it's much more realistic.

Why did they change

Sadly the ending kinda shits the bed. I would give it a 7/10 regardless though.

So, that's it? Confused It's over? What was that series 2 then?

Agree with above opinions. It was rushed in last 3 episodes. I thought it's going to be at least 10 episodes. Sad When things got interesting, it ended quickly.

One question: What was Jed doing in Roper's office (at his home) in first place? Just spying?

Anyways, it was fun. Olivia was great. Hiddleston did fine job as well. 7-8/10. Smile

The BBC and Amazon have reportedly greenlit not one but two more seasons of the John le Carré adaptation “The Night Manager”.

“Loki” actor Tom Hiddleston will reprise his leading role of Jonathan Pine in the series with David Farr, who wrote the original, back for the new run.
