This. Ever since playing AoE1, starting at the stone age, I've always wanted to play a city-builder / civilization game that really focuses on the actual progression of humanity. AoE1 or Empire Earth are obviously RTS so its too combat heavy, and Civ games are too broad to have all that micro-scale detail. I'm glad someone is finally making a game about this topic.

The devs want to add hostile wildlife and raiders so it won't at least be completely easymode like Banished.

Is it already running for quite some while, or did they really went with such a low timeline of 11 days? Surprised

TBH there's just been too many low budget building Sims, they never seem to hit the mark. Shame I have hundreds of hours in SC4, anno 1404,2070 (although I consider them trading games rather than builders, the latest one was fucking terrible).

Cities skylines, no challenge, too simplistic mechanically.

Banished, Prison Architect, Rimworld.. so so for me as they have no evolution aspects.

Factorio, got into this one a bit more than the others, no endgame, it's not that hard to reach end tech.

None of that EA bullshit for these guys:

Quote:
Why not an early alpha pledge?

Lots of people asked for an early alpha access. We know you want to play the game right now, but this would imply tons of community management and technical support. This effort, dedicated to keep people playing instead of evolving the game features towards release specifications, could seriously compromise the project.

Of course there will be an alpha when the time comes, we need it to improve the game, but we need it to be very controlled.
An alpha is a development stage, not a product to sell.

In addition, we consider that the game should be played as intended, and current status does not represent what we have in our minds and in our design sheets.

We really hope you all to understand our decision about this Kickstarter pledges; We have decided to reward your help with what we set out to make; a better game.

Estimated release is still a year+ away at Dec 2018, so all we'll get in the meantime is "we will continue with our daily development updates, with frequent gameplay videos about new features to keep you up-to-date at every moment until the game is done."

Sadly, I have to agree with this. Nothing ever seems to get close (mostly in the fun aspect) to all the older builders (and usually they run absolutely horrible).

So the "orly access" trailer uses the same footage from the "greenlight" trailer, only with duller colors and lower framerate, because ... 2020 lol wut
