Yesterday I was like Awesome until the anesthesia wore off. Now I'm like Rage.

Cannot open my mouth due to swelling on the side of the operation and the pain is like a horrible migraine.

And I went for the operation just in case Razz Was not really required. Had had a 'root kanal' treatment (root channel sounds off so I guess in English it's something else) and it did not take -> some side roots got infected, but only very mildly. It was uncomfortable to eat too cold or too hot food and occasionally I had a ticklish sensation on the tooth, but no swelling or pain. But anyway, the only way to cure it was to do a root resection.
Where they cut open the gums and get under the tooth where they clean the infection and cut off the root of the tooth. And then they stitched the gums back.

How was your day?

Went through this shit before. Never again. I'll rather tell them to pull the tooth out (like I did).

If they have done a proper root canal job, you shouldn't feel anything.

Edit: The pain before, an infected molar, I think you have to experience it to understand that kind of pain.

I know, I had an infected one and didnt do anything for over 6 months not too long ago..
The pain often comes when you try to sleep -
Sometimes there is no pain the whole day, but then lying down it starts.
It gets worse when the body starts to drift away then you get suddenly terrorized by onset of pain.
So you get up again, after a while the pain stops. "Now it's gonna be fine!"
Back to sleep, it starts again, rinse and repeat. Cost me a couple of nights that one.
Sometimes it just hurt all day, and even Metamizole didn't help anymore.
I learned a lot during that time Very Happy
I believe since then I can tolerate much more pain, and you also learn not to let it agitate you if it hurts for hours, staying calm like a Zen monk.

Oh, the root canal was not painful, and also the whole root resection was totally painless. I was pumped so full of anesthesia that I could not feel any pain at all during the operation, but once it wore off Razz

Root resection is. -> Root canal did not work, as the infection had spread to some side channels. So they had to cut away the gum under the tooth so they could access the tooth from below. And then they cut off a piece of the tooth. and then stitched the gum back together.

I did have a very painful root canal done to me as a kid. The gum was so swollen it had to be burned away. The dentist used some kind of glowin iron to burn the gum -> that was painful (before, after and during the operation)

Got finally rid of the stitches :I

Not too awesome though Razz the surgery wound had gotten infected despite the antibiotics I took, so now I have a new antibiotic prescription. And it seems like the surgery killed the nerves from my jaw. I cannot feel the side of the jaw still (it's slowly getting better though).

And there's still quite a bit of pain. But well, painkiller a days keeps the doctor away.

When they removed my wisdom teeth, one of the most efficient "painkiller" was ibupofen. It "deflates" the swelling gums a bit, and that, in turn, makes it less painful.

Stay strong mah niggah!

Yeah but when the pain is lowish you may want to switch to paracetamol.
Ibuprofen is not good for the stomach or liver (especially long term).

I had a painless root canal. Maybe I got lucky Smile

Same, I have had like 3 root canals and zero pain in any of them somehow. I'm fuckin scared of dentists so you can imagine how I felt before the first operation when everyone said it's painful as fuck...

Root canal operation is totally painless (Well, if they skimp on the anesthesia -> drilling the root is very painful Razz ), and I never had any pains after that operation either.

The painful (afterwards) operation is Root resection surgery.

I had one some time ago, 2 of them actually, i got anesthesia in 3 places of my gum, still pain.... i got one INSIDE the tooth, into the nerve directly (i was gonna die, seriously) and i still felt pain, they went through with it like that.

I havent felt more pain in my entire life than in that day. I dont know why the anesthesia didnt work.... Neutral
