Could be fun, Avalanche after all.
I dig the setting, something else for a change (can't think of Sweden as a setting other than historical games).

Story campaign or just horde mode open world?

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

They're getting really good with that Apex engine now, visually it looks like a improvement over The Hunter though well this is a different type of shooter. Very Happy
(Environments look really good, well at least with a lot of downsampling ha ha.)

Looked so bland in the video.

I hope this will actually have a story. Looks more like some coop survival game where you just pewpew.

The animations look really stiff, especially when firing the gun, not sure how to feel about it, even though the theme feels nice for a change.

The setting is pretty neat indeed, the idea of how the gameplay/modes will pan out on the other hand doesn't quite convince my grumpy solitary self. We shall see I guess (looking at the glass half full, at least it ain't a BR Everything Went Better Than Expected Laughing)

Lol, they've made some of the stuff feel quite nostalgic (and somewhat correct for Sweden ca. 1981).

I kind of like the look of this. Really up to play a survival game with friends, that is NOT about building - can't stand that shit, puts me to sleep. If encounters are nice and hard, then this would be great!

Simon Stålenhag's(from Sweden) works may have acted as the inspiration:

For sure yes, i love his art. Been following him for years.

From his twitter;

"The only thing that bothers me about Generation Zero is simply this: Avalanche knows who I am. We live in the same town. The game director of the GZ follows me on Twitter. I've even met them and briefly worked with them and not once did they mention that they were working on a game set in the Swedish countryside in the late 1980s, featuring giant robots. Well okay, I guess they didn't have to say anything, but the minimally decent thing to do would have been to at least acknowledge the similarities when pointed out."

yeah, i mean why at least not write "inspired by Stålenhag's art", it's not like it would do any harm, like it would sell less or people would get upset. The only thing that possibly can happen is more people would be interested to check out his art.. guess they want to take the credit for themselves.

Gameplay looks.. meh. I do love seeing houses that you are familiar with.. the yellow house in the beginning looks exactly like the house where my grandparents lived. It certainly adds something new that i'm not exactly spoiled with in games. Overall the graphics looks quite nice.
