|
 |
It's fucking annoying. Since like 1 months my computer have been randomly shutting down and restarting when I play games. I know it's not a heat issues because CPUID shows that my cpu and at like 40degrees and GPU around 40 degrees too.
What could it be? It only happens when playing games.

Do you think there are any tests I could do to verify that? I know that CPUID shows the voltage but I dont know what are the correct values.
I also have another bug with my computer that may be PSU related too. Sometimes, when I boot my computer and play games, it's like I only have 25% of the power. I use Wildstar launcher has a benchmark to see if my computer is running fine. If it shows 99-100fps at the launcher, it's ok. But sometimes, I run at like 25-30fps. 1 or 2 restarts usually fix that, but I always found it weird and never found a solution. Reinstalled Windows many time, even changed my GPU thinking it could be that.

Nvidia card? Then my bet is on their drivers.
I had the same problem about two weeks ago with the drivers, that came out at end of last month: Like PC restarts or randomly freezing during desktop work.
Reverted back to 359.06 and no problems since then.

Yeah, GTX970 but I havent updated my drivers in like 3 months.
Just downloaded the new beta drivers for the division, we'll see. If not well I guess its PSU related

check the event log for clues. very likely instability, either PSU, or gpu/cpu OC.
going stock is always a good start if reverting to previously stable drivers doesn't change a thing.

How old is your PSU and what model it is?

About 2-3 years old, Corsair HX850 Gold (850w)
Damn it's annoying.
Just remembered this morning that my PSU is plugged in a powerbar, which is plugged in an extension, which is plugged in the outlet. Gonna try to plus it directly in the outlet tonight, see if that changes something
In the windows log, I got a "Critical Kernel-Power Event ID 41" each time my computer restart.

Did you by mistake hit the eject gpu system tray option?
