Can you check whether the update shows in recovery mode?

New USB stick, works wonders. Habib 4.66 failed over 3.15 for some reason, trying to update OFW 3.55 first then 4.66 again.
EDIT: Works now, I somehow had forgotten to reconnect the bluetooth device so it gave an error on installs because of that, reconnect and works wonders!
How awesome is this thing with CFW now, like bazillion times better.

So i'm still on CFW Rogero 4.55 and I was trying to set up Little Big Planet 3 for my nephew but this one requires 4.65.
When I lunched it Multiman asked me if I want to change the requirement to 4.55, will this work?
Also what option are there for updating to CFW 4.65?

think it's just as well to get Darknet 4.70 instead of an older version. If you really insist on 4.65 you should definitely go for the Rebug version.

I don't really care which version I get, the one that's more stable/compatible with my library should do fine.
What about Habib 4.66? Seems it's the most talked about...
Also, will updating to a new CFW mess up some games in my current library -- I know some PS3 games require certain files to be replaced, like cracks, while some PSN games are patched for a certain version of CFW, will these still work after an update?

I think Habib is popular because of the speed of new CFW's. Rebug is testing and testing and adding features such as Cobra which delays their releases quite a bit. As far as i know they are considered the best.

I still use rogero 4.55 and I have LBP 3. Just have multiman change the requirement. it will work fine. No need to update if you ask me..Rogero always had the best firmwares IMO.

So I bought a FAT 80Gb PS3 with the intent on downgrading it to 3.55 and install CFW on it. I just checked to which firmware the lowest it can be downgraded is "2.45". So far so good. The firmware on the PS3 is now "4.70".
I have a few questions first. Since it's prolly and old PS3 what should I do to prevent overheating it and getting YLOD? I suppose cleaning is a first, will it require new thermal paste and such things? I know I'll need the E3 flasher which is solderless so that shouldn't be a problem.
As for downgrading it, is there any tutorial you can recommend? And which CFW should I need install? Can I go online on PSN? How safe is being online with it? Thx.

Finally took PS3 to play all those nice exclusive games. I'm a noob in consoles stuff so i took it pre hacked with CFW 4.80 Cobra. Already loaded 400gb iso's from external. Everything works fine.
Recently i connected it to the internet and all games started to download updates. They still work after that. So finally my question is... is there some danger of getting banned by playing multiplayer and downloading patches with hacked console? And most important can i get screwed and fuck up the hack somehow?

yes you can get banned from psn, but i dont know if they ban for updates only (which afaik dont need a logged in psn account, but im not sure). but if you play online -> you will get banned most likely
and you cant be screwed unless it installs a new system software (but i doubt sony will ever release something newer than 4.80 now)

to be 100% safe you should stay completely offline with the ps3. iirc there are ways to get updates for the games on another way
though in the end it doesnt even matter if they ban you or not, you wont be able to sell that thingy for much money anyway

I don't care if they ban me unless that stops me from playing normally offline.
Will download updates for all the games quickly and stop it from connecting i guess.

they can only ban you from the psn, so no problem at all (cause you dont have legit bought digital games or dlcs)

I can't find any of the CFW or Habib files without some stupid survey or bullshit malware!! Is there a site for the ps3 like the xbox 360 site for this?

as jackQ stated in the other thread, this is only for hackable PS3 by hardware flasher anyway.. It’s only useful for people that updated to 3.56+ OFW and don’t wanna use a hardware flasher to downgrade for these specific console (pre 2011).
You still cannot downgrade PS3 that couldn’t be downgraded with a hardware flasher.

Guys, due to advancements in PS3 emulation, I started collecting some titles which I consider to be timeless classics.
However, most of these games are not at their latest versions. How do you normally obtain patches and how to use it with emulator? I see they are distributed in .pkg format but I don't know if it's related to ODE/CFW or is universal.
I used to have X360 where patching consists of merely tossing Title Update file into certain folder on a partition.
