I don't get it why you two and everyone else belonging to both sides always argues about the mysteries being resolved or not.
That they won't answer many of the big questions and mythology regarding the island, the numbers etc. was said many times by Damon and Carlton,
actors and producers during the course of season 6 and should've been clear to everybody,
and those of you who wanted answers should've lowered their expectations beforehand and not act totally surprised and upset now.
What in my eyes is the real scandal is everything regarding the sideways universe revelations.
See, at first they showed us the Island UNDERWATER, and two "previously on lost" flashbacks ending with the jughead detonation indicating that an alternative universe was created.
Well, those were red herrings, dangling carrots or remnants of an ending that was later changed!?
Instead we get this despicable religious and spiritual bullshit about heaven and purgatory, rebirth and afterlife.
We got an answer to "What happens after death", a question I never asked.
This revelation makes a lot of plotlines pointless, introduces a philosophy that I find disconcerting and is a cheesy, simple way out of it, appealing to the dumb masses.
The theme of the show was science vs. faith and faith won by a longshot. The writers clearly took sides, and that in my eyes is a mistake.
A good story makes us think beyond these terms, or show us that both concepts can work together. Lost clearly failed at that.

1.it doesnt matter why the smoke sounds mechanical.oh no i lied. becuz it sounds cool !

3.you dont have to know how the rules work because it doesnt matter.rules are meant to be followed not discussed. i personally dont give a fuck
4. i dont think the world would have been in danger if the smoke left. maybe something a la The Road ?

Are you people really writing off 6 (nearly) seasons of pure brilliance down to stupid things like the creators not explaining why the smoke made a mechanical sound? I'm stopping reading this thread now, i'm ashamed of you all!

so guys if they made a movie now in which they say that the island is an alien ancient spaceship brought here on earth by aliens from the omega 89 planet to study us and shit and that the black smoke is an alien trapped in the island that would destory earth if he left + a lot of pew pew pew ...would you be happy ?

If the ending satisfied you then don't bother posting back here because you are either cognitively disabled or just really really stupid.
The reason we are all felling such rage for the finale is because of something extremely simple to understand, they went to all this trouble during the last 5 years to make everything have possible 3 or 4 different interpretations, each one of them could answer a mistery one way or the other and they just throw all that into the garbage and pull a happy heaven ridiculous finale? They made the show in such a way that EVERYTHING could be explained and they discarded all of that to do the shit that they did?
To answer your question, yes I would be happy with ANYTHING more they could do to give a fucking resolution to the show, the show just didn't end in any way shape or form, they just had a very expensive and long episode and call it the finale, the story, the questions, everything was left unanswered, they always said that the show was about the characters and would give them proper resolutions, THEY DIDN'T, are you going to say that happy heaven reunion is a resolution?
I wanted to know what happened in their LIVES, not their deaths, 5 years of flashbacks and whatnot to give us a major idea of all of this characters lives and struggles before they got to the island, I expected nothing less than a conclusion of their lives for those that survived the island, "they lived happy ever after in heaven" doesn't work, doesn't work AT ALL, they failed in every way, they haven't answered a single question about the mythology, they haven't given their precious characters any sort of tangible conclusion, nothing, the show just didn't end, so when you ask if I would be happy if they made a movie or something that answered some questions, I can only say definitely yes, because they just didn't end what they started!

They will make tons of money in sales with the DVD Boxset because they claim 20 minutes of unseen footage will be there, and everyone will rush in to buy it in hope of some answers, but I bet that all the unseen footage is just some vague crap and extra scenes that don't answer anything at all.

all over the place we're alluded to the whole duality of the characters
split personality
but here and in saw nothing is alluded
nothing is really explained
so its not clever writing
its shoddy at best

Do you know the difference between an ending that explains what the hell the tv show/movie is about from a pseudo emotional shit that doesn't correlate in any way with the rest of anything you invested your time in?

yes a tv series is meant to be well executed like a movie
you have a larger scale of character development
creating tension and drama for the sake of the overal plot.
look at justified
look at hung
look at dexter
look at dead like me
look at saved by the bell
look at any tv show
through their many seasons not only does character development become stronger and greater the plot for each season is well developed well exposed and well executed
much like movies where you only have 90+ minutes to develop characters, set up plot, exeute it, and conclude it.
tv isnt different than movies.
you follow the same formula for a plot based series.
from ep 1 to the last bits and pieces of plot are revealed
from 1 to last characters are developed
every show and evey movie thats done well that has a twist ending
alludes to it and foreshadows it because then its a shock its revealed
and a twist ending is still a twist ending even if you expect it.
the execution makes it so.
look at se7en
double indemnity
sunset boulevard
tv and movies only differ in the time span
they follow the same formula
you are allowed more with tv yes but the basics in writing are the same
so stfu you lost lover
if you don't understand the fact that if you steer an audience one way and then take them elsewhere with out hinting. without warning then the audience will be pissed and dissatisfied. simple.
the ending wasn't brilliant it was a cop out. they had no idea what to do.
they just wrote a scene with cs to explain its a purgatory?
in other seasons the flashes were clear cut.
simple. only mystery. only sense of tension. only real plot was on the island.
we have to get out.
