|
 |
Requirements:
- extensive Playlist format support
- global hotkeys support
- extensive audio formats support (including ogg, flac, aac/m4a)
- UTF-8 support for (ILLEGAL!!!) chars in the filenames (WTF is this shit? -> ♫Royalty Free Music♫ (☞゚ヮ゚)☞ [Zajman] _Greetings_.m4a)
- not bloated / no big gui, just the important stuff, no "Wiki" support and iTune Shop links etc.
- tool MUST be specialized for Music(!!!) (e.g. NO "Vlc" mentions allowed, plus it's GUI is outdated cancer)
3, 2, 1, ... GO!

it wasn't an alternative back then and it isn't now.
why don't you just keep on using the old winamp lite?

Well, there are some good mentioned allready..
Foobar is quite good and has all that, BUT its a pain in the ass to set it all up... If you really want it your way..
If you had trouble setting your foobar up, there are some preconfigured designs to download, that would make it easier for you, if that was the case.. Its the way i did it, since i couldnt get foobar the way i wanted. Downloaded a design that suited me and i was imoressed to be honest.. But yeah, its a pain to set up.
Pre Configured Skins can be downloaded and looked trough here:
https://foobar-users.de/index.php#c1
Example: (DarkOne4Mod)
Spoiler: | |
https://foobar-users.de/index.php?topic=4851.0
Its a "German" forum, but the people there keep theyr skins up to date
You can also find skins on Deviantart, but check if the Version is supported, etc..
AIMP is also pretty decent and probally most close to winamp in design and such..
There are a few others out there not so known...
No particular Order....
1. Dopamine
--> https://www.digimezzo.com/software/dopamine/
2. fmedia
--> https://stsaz.github.io/fmedia/
3. Resonic Player
--> https://resonic.at/player
4. The Directory Player 1by1
--> http://mpesch3.de/1by1.html
5. MusicBee
--> https://getmusicbee.com/
6. WACUP (Winamp Community Update Project) (if you liked Winamp this might be something?)
Quote: | WACUP (Winamp Community Update Project) is an audio player based on Winamp. WACUP (which can be pronounced as wakeup or wac-up or however you prefer it in your native tongue) is designed to work only with the patched Winamp 5.666 release to provide bug fixes, updates of existing features and most importantly new features with the goal to eventually become it's own highly Winamp compatible media player. WACUP makes use of the benefits of Winamp being heavily based on a plug-in system so new plug-ins can add additional features as well as allowing replacements to be created which provide better implementations over the plug-ins natively included with Winamp. If none of that makes sense, a good way to think about WACUP is that it is like a video game mod where you initially use the original game but then files related to it are added to or edited in-order to provide a better experience. |
--> https://getwacup.com/
most of them should have what youre asking for...
All mentioned are still developed and getting updated.. So no abandonWare here..
Still worth a look..
I hope theres something in there for Mr. Paxi

What's with the hate towards foobar? And it's always coming from the Winamp "gypsy fair skinned UI and UX of 1997" sect?
The program is lightning fast, based on proven libraries, not abandonware, can be a stupid simple player or grow into serious library manager, supports plugins, customizable columns and grouping, programmable hotkeys (both local and global) for each and every function, has powerfull DSP processing...

1) Shuffle and repeat are in Playback -> Order menu. Or right click on button toolbar, Customize Buttons and add whichever button you want.
2) You can, right click on the menu or toolbar. Or change the entire layout with View -> Layout.
3) Compact mode: View -> Layout -> Quick Setup, select "Simple Playlist + Tabs"
4) Not all of them. I use "Forum" color scheme and it's quite soothing.
5) Global hotkeys: File -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts, "Global hotkey" checkbox.

well, like i sayd before.. Foobar is pretty good, BUT its a pain to setup.
I allways saw it as "create your own Audio Player" type of Thing..
You can do everything with it, but it takes time, and a bit knowledge.
But there are more then enough presets out there.. YOu just have to find one that suits you
--> https://www.deviantart.com/search/deviations?order=popular-all-time&q=foobar
I dont know what deviantart did, but i cant use teh site anymore like i used to be..
But yeah, you will find hundrets of GUI´s there..

AIMP is what i use also. Tossing my vote in for it on top of the pile.
I like foobar, but man its like using a nuclear reactor to heat up a burrito. Too many options, and tweaks, and windows, and shit you need to fidget with, configure and customize to get setup how you want it.
Same with Media Monkey, like the concept..dont like the interface.
Both of them feel like the Discord of music to me: Why do I need all these other damn options, and tabs, and features in a window that takes up 3/4 of my side screen, to use voice chat? (in this case, to play a simple playlist)
So AIMP is the best "So you want a small compact nonsense quality player to play that song for you? Got ya covered".
