As I read more and more threads in here, it's becoming more and more clear that people have different opinions on what makes a golden oldie.

In an effort to get this section operating as intended, I propose this:

Voting!

Every thread that brings up a proposed golden oldie should have a poll accompanied with it, let's say it's open for a week to determine it's golden oldie status, majority wins.

I will maintain a sticky'd master list of all approved golden oldies, and we'll let the people decide once and for all for each title.

Is that any good? Or a waste of time?

I think this isn't necessary. This section is not that active so pools might have only a couple of votes. And what would happen to games that aren't voted golden oldies? Would they be deleted or moved somewhere?

I think this subforum more of a place to discuss all old games, not just "golden oldies" since posting threads about old games in PC Games Arena might fill them with posts asking "why is this being posted?" and the like.

Besides almost all games posted here by now are golden oldies. There are 2-3 threads that are not about any game, but that's fine by me.

^^ That.

Seriously. I know the section title is "Golden Oldies" - but I see the section more as a trip down memory lane, whether that's 5 years or 25 years Smile

who the hell voted yes? maybe those that did could try saying why, because veki already provided a good argument against this.

a game that's a golden oldie for some could be just an oldie for others. as sabin said, this is good for tripping back in time and it's fine like this.

If a game really doesn't deserve it's place in this subforum, it'll probably disappear on it's own.

Just rename the section to "Old shit", problem solved? (and don't get me wrong, I love old games).

Because majority is always right and Halo is one of the best games ever made and games like Arcanum or Vampire Bloodlines are shit.
In conclusion I'll say only this; I do not agree.
