Fucking hell. My country is playing against Ukraine tomorrow and already i got 15 phone calls today ( first one was 4 in the morning) from friends asking me where I was planning on watching the game.
And when I said that wasn't going to watch the game they all became insulted. Even when I explained that I was going to fuck my girlfriend they said football comes first.
In the streets, I'm already seeing people wearing facepaint and the game is TOMORROW.
Don't get me wrong, I like to watch football, but this is so overzealous to the point of insanity.
I mean,What The Fuck?

Well can't you fuck you gf today and see the match tomorrow? You know how we get when football is involved, it's our national pride (sadly). And plus when's the best time to get drunk then watchin a game with friends?

I enjoy watching football too but some people take it waaaaaay too seriously. And in my country most of the hardcore fans (or hooligans as they call themselves) are pathetic anti-semitic patriotic nazi shitfucks. Probably that's why they are the only ones who attend domestic matches.

For me there is distinct difference: When my country is playing I'll watch it. But when national league is playing I most definitely won't watch it. Or Spanish Primera. That's football! Nice play, not headless chasing of the ball (as is the case with our national league)...

I went to football match in Poland once. Talk about some scary shit. I think my friend and I were the only ones not armed on the whole stadium.

The last time I was on a football match was in 1999 I think. I was in 5th grade, and it was some low profile game (dinamo-marsonija). Whenever there is a big game here our town becomes militarized zone. Cops on every corner. My sisters boyfriend lives near stadium, and on the day of big matches he leaves his car at my place (I have backyard so he can park his car).
The main reason I don't watch national football is lousy play and idiots who are making mess.
And the situation in our country is so grim, that all people have left is bread and circuses (kruha i igara)...

Oh yeah. If you ever want to watch a match outside your border, don't ever, and I mean EVER go to Poland if you're cheering a non-Polish team. If you won't be killed, you'll most likely be mugged and beaten to dust.

Yeah we get those sad twats here, who paint thier faces and wear disgusting nylon shirts. Mostly overweight, with an extremely low I.Q. However they are funny to look at and give the rest of us something to laugh at. They have stadiums all over the country which they flock to on a regular basis, fighting each other and creating traffic mayhem.

Hey at risk to being shunned lol, im gonna say I have never followed football/soccer whatever you want to call it really, although years ago I would of watched say the world cup games just cause of the mix of players made it a bit more watchable.
But today I think its nothing more than a yob infested look at me im loaded type of sport, harboured by tons of adverts and shit to keep up the front that all it really is, is a bunch of nubs that are fit enough to run kicking remastered pigskin about
Loathe it, would rather join david in his closset with a rope.

Goddamnit
I saw some commercials on TSN2 (The Sports Network's second channel...already have 3 ESPN's) that said football/soccer was coming. Naturally, I thought it would be the English leagues (if it was the Italian leagues, I would have cancelled the chan....buncha divers).
Turns of its *drum roll* MLS - "Major League Soccer".....fuckin North American soccer/football.
FUCKIN SUCKS!!!
NA Soccer is like watching the minor leagues of the minor leagues.....seriously......complete stupidity....

While I like watching a good match at times, I never understood the fanatical supporting of the "homeland". Are the players not payed when they win? What do I get? Why would I go out on the streets and scream like a maniac because they won something? Does my country get anything? Brazil won the World Cup five times, what did they get?
I never understood fanatism really. Maybe there's something wrong with me.

No, it was covered last year as well. Saw a few Beckham games.
Just TSN2 is covering ALL MLS games. Not just Toronto FC games.
I'm waiting for a sports channel (and I must have like 20) to cover either the English Premier Leagues or UEFA (is that the right spelling/abbreviation?).
NA soccer/football is just.....I'd rather watch Golf and I'm not a fan of Golf. Like to play Golf, don't like watching it unless I'm trying to take a nap on a Sat or Sun afternoon. I swear, Golf puts me to sleep so quickly.

It comes down to if you like sports. If, for example, the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup....fuck, Toronto would go ape shit, as would I.
Tho if your not into sports, then yeah, I can see why it would seem kinda ridiculous.
But remember, your hometown/homeland team represents your city or country. So when they win something big ie the World Cup....you celebrate cause it shows the kind of talent your city or country produces.
