For those having the FADE problem :
One of the things that can be triggering the Fade thing is the english files !
If you are just overwriting the files it could trigger the FADE !
The solution is to create a Mod folder and change the arma2.exe shotcut to use this folder with the english files! And you can keep the original language files on their place!
So for this : create a folder in Arma 2 root, like English ! Inside it create a subfolder Dta and put all the files from the Dta folder that it is on root ! Then just copy the 3 files from the language pack to this folder!
After add in the end of the shortcut : -mod=English !
Like i´ve been using since i started playing i cant be sure if it really helps but i still haven´t faced any FADE problem ( Using mini-image with Yasu + patch 1.01) ! |
This doesnt cure FADE, I picked this up from the BHI forums and I then get the "message" during gameplay..
Its the modified exe that causes fade to kick in.

Also a little top for people with frame rate issues..
I noticed a huge difference in frames on my PC using Windows 7 rather than Vista 32.
So while its free try it out.
My spec is
Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz
ATI 4870 1GB
4GB DDR3
Admittedly I have nothing but games on windows 7 so theres nothing in the backgorung running but it plays super smooth on max settings with shader at 150%.
Also my res is 1920x1080 as this is my 24" LCD native.

I have a legit copy with the english files and I have never once seen any instance of fade. My game runs flawless online and offline with the english files.

Yup thats because your not using a cracked exe... the english files are ok as long as its only the english files on legit copy... as soon as u change the exe it kicks in.
Cant be arsed to check but i bet the cracked exe is a completely different size to the origional which is a eice of piss for FADE to see.

From memory the fade in arma 1 was caused by using keys that were not legit? Interesting to know if the people getting fade now used the key supplied with the download or used all 0s instead.
BF3 = Stompya

It's working so far with no fade for me, reinstalled and this time I used the Gensis crack with the dll file. Still going to buy it once it's out for the multiplayer.

o22cool, so it's confirm that we need to use the serial key supplied in order prevent FADE from kicking in??

So, have anyone been able to find a way to play the Genesis release over Hamachi, with another person using the same release.
Tried changing the serial via regedit, but just said "Bad Serial" or something like that.

I think he used the all 0s number, judging from his post 2 above that one.
Arma 1, I bought the german version at release, then used the english image that became available, with the crack. Because I had a legit key I had no fade issues. Thats why I am thinking the fade is a serial issue rather then a crack one.

yeah, he did use 0s, then he reinstall using the serial provided. i was just confirming on the serial, coz i installed using 0s as well. will reinstall after i get home.
hard to believe FADE is solely dependent on serial as the trigger, rather than on the EXE.

when i installed the first time i used 0s as the serial and i did experience fade. (illegal copies may degrade messages and my gun aiming were all messed up especially the m9 pistol).
i then tried to reinstall the game using the serial provided somewhere and so far have not experienced any fade (no illegal copies messages , guns aiming are good and accurate including the m9 pistol)
i've got a feeling that its the serial that triggers fade and not the exe file.

Well it's working here with no fade after approx 8 hours of play.
Installed the GNS version, didnt enter any product code just clicked next, updated with official german 1.01 patch, copied over the 1.01 crack from GNS and slapped in the english text files, no fanfare, degrade notification, no signs of Fade yet.
Yeah the game is buggy in places but thats the norm for ARMA, you got to see this has great potential, cant wait till play.com ship my order so I can get some online action.
If life is one big joke , I just don't get it......

Yes, I used the supplied serial rather than the 0's the 1st time I installed it, and there is no fade now, sorry it took so long to reply, I was too busy kicking butt, wow I can hit anything now with pistols and rifles. Before I couldn't hit anything, I thought I was just bad at aiming.

There is a way to disable post-processing or set shadow at minimal resolution or other unusefull settings to improve fps ?
