I haven't been complaining on this thread almost at all actually.  I just asked a question. In the case of Crysis, however, I think actually playing longer could lead into liking it less lol. I think it is almost universally agreed upon that the alien parts later in the game are less fun the Korean parts.

I think people forget that crytek bought alot of firsts to the FPS genre with crysis, example it was the first time you could actually run up and grap an enemy by the throat, and then throw them violently into a pile of explosive barrels you had piled up previously, or the fact that you could see a jeep speeding towards you and a well placed shot can take out the tyres to have it flip over you action movie style because of thier awesome physics system. And the cutscenes and set pieces, you cant tell me you didnt think they where something epic the first time you saw them?
I Actually feel spoiled by the gameplay in crysis, and has ruined games like COD for me now because the action just feels forced and fake to me in those type of games now, SP campaign only of course MP still rocks.
They Also raised the bar for graphics substantially, I think the last graphical leap foreward before crysis was around the time of Doom 3 and maybe HL2 or call of duty 2. |
My question is what did Crysis bring to the table that was so much better than HL2, COD, and Doom 3. Honestly, besides physics and a nice looking environment, I'm stumped. |
While it didn't bring anything completely new in terms of FPS (It is a just shooter after all) the things they did do are a step in the right direction in terms of emmersion and interactivity in a game world, it's not about what they bought to the table but more about the way it was executed.
For instance the nano suit, the way they integrated it into the gameplay is pure genius, I mean who doesent like leaping 20 FT into the air over a building, landing behind an unsuspecting foe grabbing him and smashing his face into a wall 
Like I said Crysis is what you make it as a player, and that's the mantra of any sandbox game. And if you didn't find anything to like about it or felt the gameplay was mediocre then you must have just played it like any other bog standard shooter and didn't explore your options thoroughly enough. |
the nanosuit is the main reason I never really played the game, I thought it was crap. I Was following crysis like a horny lesbian after a smelly crotch until they started with the nanosuit shit |

no actually, Crysis, Crysis:warhead, Crysis 2, Crysis 2 : Warhead, Crysis 2 : Prophet, Crysis 2 koreans, Then Crysis 3 etc

I would hope so. When I saw the cryengine techdemo running on the consoles I wasn't that impressed. It was subpar to the original Crysis on the PC still, even if the frame rate was there it didn't have the sharpness or clarity of graphics that the original crysis on the PC version had.
I can visulize my graphic card melting already with this game.

definately wont be suckered in again. i bought crysis... very pretty game, but a MASSIVE letdown, and i regret the fact i actually bought it.. and crysis 2 being a console game with a pc port? fuck that...
i bought crysis for the mulitplayer, but gave up pretty quickly because the lazy fucks didnt support it... hackers ruined the fuck out of it, patches and fixes never came... oh ill download crysis2 when it comes out, but nah, im really over crytek and its bullshit... to me, theyre nothing special... and with the news of them focusing on consoles... shit... i cant even look forward to crysis 2 as an ultimate visual feast anymore, which u gotta admit crysis definitely WAS...
...so everything GOOD about crytek... yeah ok, i mean the ONE thing good about crytek... namely pushing the visual envelope for graphics, is now gone, so meh... file crytek and crysis 2 under D for dont give a flying fuck.

I honestly think Warhead was a good game, because it had better pacing. The first one was a lot of running around for no aparent reason. But it had a nice final battle.
