Hi chipito,
Your English is cool. My point about broken sword 3 was not how good the game was-thats subjective (i thought it was about the same as the first two-ie puzzles way too obvious. But the artwork in the first two rocked.). Its just doesnt bode well for As you say the sierras, EAs and lucas`s producing or taking risks on games like this. Could you imagine Lucas taking the risk and releasing an unknown sam n max or a dott now? Aint happening . These companies watch market trends But it does open the Market for new companies to open a niche. How the hell did i miss "runaway" ? Am i the only person who hasnt played it Laughing These old games were so cool-and genuinely funny-i so hope theres still games in this style still going to get made!

yes you are right buddy
but please, go play runaway now! you're missing it ! Surprised
the game received many many many many many awards from all gaming sources... including "adventure game of the year" awards...

sounds like you're a fan of the genre, like me.
for us, simply let's hope to see more adventure games

oh, and i don't think LA will get low profits with sam and max 2... there's A LOT of peopple complaining until today about it's stopping... and full throttle 2 too... also a lot of petitions around sending LA to the hell (like me, I signed Razz )

I think they underestimate the power of nostalgia. Take "Dragons lair" Worst gameplay ever but sold over a million copies. But it reminds me of my misspent youth-so i bought it. Lucas needs a good slapping from somebdy. Their games were always associated with qaulity. Even their star wars games were great. Mind you i still have "The Dig" "Runaway" and "the longest Journey" to complete, so that should keep me going till the next great adventure comes along Very Happy

Yep been trying a few games on Scummvm with the graphic filters. v.cool. The opening sequence from DOTT still makes me laugh. Oddly they make Maniac Mansion graphics look worse. Amazingly Maniac Mansions runs under xp as well.

Also this-Maniac Mansion Deluxe (fan remake) is well worth a look.

i´ve tried the Zak McKracken game from these guys in the past, and it sucked badly

the game can be finished in 10 minutes (or less?) and is just a "joke" to all fans of the game

very very home made

hope the MM remake is better, although its the same game with better gfx

Broken sword 3 was good and was better made than any other adventure game that used keyboard controls including grim fangango. It had good visuals, the controls were responsive and the models were well made. Also you didnt have a 50 point turning circle like on grim fandango. If grim fandango used this system it would be much better but i still prefer point and click games, broken sword 3 was too easy because everything had stars indicating where you could interact.

Thanks, I enjoyed those videos. I have fond memories of playing Monkey Island as a kid on the good old Amiga 500. Truly ones of the greatest games of all times. Smile

Oh my fucking lord Shocked
I'm not a fan of the art style, which is quite similar to the Remastered editions' - it did a fine job at being a modern take on it for that purpose.. but I'd very much rather see something in pixel art like Thimbleweed Park was (would be perfect, why reinvent the wheel) or in an animated motion picture's style like CMI, but this doesn't really fit the "warm", "tropical" theme for me.
Regardless, I'm very hyped Razz

Currently watching all of Black Sails too so I'm in a very pirate-y mood ! Very Happy
Fingers crossed to the max ! Thimbleweed park was pretty darn good, so there's no reason this shouldn't be ! They've also got Dominic Armato back on board as Guybrush (here's hoping they'll get Guybrush's French actor for CMI back too), so that's already something pretty great ensured Razz

That was a nice surprise, Ron Gilbert's signature April Fools' joke has finally become reality Razz

Let's hope the new game will be able to preserve the ol' charm and humour, it's not an easy task but with two of the original writers on board they can pull it off.

The third is different from the first two (more linear, less "open-ended" and inventive in its puzzles) but I also cherish it, love the art style and the atmosphere that oozes from it, and both the English and French VO are top-notch. It captured the spirit of MI the best it could without its OG writers and still is a favourite of mine.

The fourth is more difficult to get through... It's worth playing but nothing like the first three instalments up to the "I'm not going to replay it" point, and that control scheme is god awful.
It also has the tendency to kinda deconstruct everything about MI's lore and that's kinda the point it's making, but the game hasn't aged well (I found it looked much worse than CMI when it came out already) and just doesn't quite pull it off.

TT games are your usual TT games : a solid effort that respects the base material and rather enjoyable to go through, but it's a bit of a budget , average version of the thing.

This new game is going to pick up the story after LeChuck's revenge so I wonder if it'll just ignore CMI and be that third "official" Monkey Island game that never was, or try to make the connection between MI2 and CMI like Gilbert has sometimes hinted so - I'd prefer the latter. It wouldn't surprise me if it completely ignored EMI, though Very Happy
We'll see !

From what he said on twitter COMI is canon so imo it’s gonna tie loose end between monkey 2 and comi.

Sadly I doubt it’s gonna have French dub: I looked at every Devolver game and non were dubbed Sad

Too bad because in my case it is part of the magic, and immersion is better than reading subtitles. Most jokes were translated to French ones…

Yeah, they had done a fantastic job translating it and its humour as best as they could, it's probably the only series I played through multiple times in English and French both - and enjoying both equally Very Happy

I would love having Aladdin's voice back as Guybrush and all of the others as well (you can recognize so many famous, immediately recognisable, talented French VAs voices in CMI ! It's such a treat) but yeah, not sure Devolver's pockets are deep enough for this Sad
Perhaps it could come later on, even as a DLC I'd have no problem paying for, if the game's successful enough and the community pushes hard enough for it ? Fingers crossed !
