Hi,

is it possible to add foreign language gcf files to the existing Halflife 2 Installation? I added for testing purposes a decrypted french Half-Life 2 French.gcf to the SteamApps Folder and edited the steamemu.ini file, adding the GCF06=Half-Life 2 French.gcf to the Half-Life 2 section. Changed the language to french in registry and ran the game. But its still english speech with french text. I don´t know why, did i something wrong or isn´t it possible at all?

Are you sure the retail copy isn't like that? Have you asked anyone who bought it?

I think he means this: Does that frensh version really have frensh speech?

I would indeed be more logocal that the frensh version only includes frensh subtitles, since translating the stuff and adding it isn't taking too much time and can basicly be done by one person. Totaly redoing the speech in fresh takes way more time and way more people and so is way more expansive. Mostly games from a different country then where they were made only got the manual in there own language, and mostly the installation is aswell. Just sometimes ingame stuff is in there own languge....really rare

It has french speech. I have the french and the german gcf file here. Both around 800 mb each. When i extract those with gcfscape, there are wavs with the specific language. And with running orginal steam account, i have foreign speech and all works fine. Restarting with hCUPas steam emulator speech is english again.

I want to mention that hCUPa did a great job on this emulator. Smile

Maybe you should try and get a german/ frensh emulator (this could be a pain in the ass, since it would be a mod on VENGEANCE emulator, and so two times illegal, but you can alwasy try :))
