Haha, no I'm pretty sure that screen is from ArmA, just that both games look very similar.

(There's probably better comparisons somewhere, bit hard to find that exact screen.)

they should have really done an open beta for 2 months with like 200 hardcore arma 1 players before even thinking about releasing it in this state, being patched in the end or not, we dont even know if it will ever be bug free.

I was really looking forward and ill wait all summer to see how the patching process goes, but i wont waste my money on it if it takes a year to be in the state it should have been released in.

Heh, seems I was wrong then, interesting.
(Can they even do that legally? Bohemia and Codemasters have already been going at each other due to Codemasters or rather the naming convention that is Operation Flashpoint 2, kinda similar to Far Cry - > Crysis instead of Far Cry - Far Cry 2)

I was thinking the same. Thing is, the extracter tool seem to be from petergame, and they might have taken a wrong picture. Doubt BIS would do that kinda error and risk a lawsuit.

Not to mention the fact that ARMA II´s models are more high res the OFP´s.

Also the title of the installer window is "Armed Assault 2", while the official name of the game is "ArmA 2" (and specifically not "Armed Assault 2"). Seems like a bit of a screwup by the online publisher.

Good news guys. I bought the game on Petergames, downloaded, installed, patched with English files and everything is going great. I know there have been a few critical reviews of the game but I can honestly say that so far I have played through the first mission in the campaign flawlessly. No bugs, no problems. Even better is that the game looks and runs GREAT. It looks better than Crysis at certain points.

I have no doubt I will encounter some bugs eventually but the game is not at all broken and is definitely worth getting. Smile

A bit above 8.5 GB when fully downloaded from what I've read, probably a bit still once uncompressed (Dual layer DVD disc.) and installed.

PC Action review 4/10 & some user experiences:

Quote:
- Campaign is unplayable and impossible to complete due to many scripting errors, broken checkpoints and "missing file" errors.
- Many people can't get game to install.
- bugged pathfinding sometimes makes it impossible to meet NPC´s needed for missions as the NPC´s are not where they are supposed to be but instead are wandering through the woods, lost with their own pathfinding routines
- Missions are reported "failed", even if the player hasn´t even picked the mission yet.
- Motorcycles that have fallen on the ground can´t be used again
- Ingame performance on a Core2Duo @3,16 GHz, 3 GB RAM, Gerforce 8800 GTS 512 MB
is not that satisfying. There are freezes during gaming.
- enemy AI can see through foliage; the higher the detail settings (the more foliage on display) the more you are at a disadvantage
- bugs already in the tutorial missions: translation mistakes; AI doesn't react at one time, reacts way too earlier the next time; firing the Javelin launches the sights along with the missile (!)
- neither the manual nor the tutorials provide a sufficient introduction to many of the game's features
- AI soldier doesn't react to his squadmate getting shot right next to him
- robot-like precision of injured AI enemies, can pinpoint your location in a heartbeat; seems unfair and not very life-like
- attack chopper crashes into the ground on attack approach (editor)
- AI: often doesn't react at all, won't follow orders
- missions: scripts get screwed up, script error messages appear, missions won't proceed, important characters don't appear; mission Manhattan not completable
- clipping errors
- horrible (german) subtitles and translation
- lots of crashes
- Arma2 is Arma1 with a Graphics update + new island and units - not more not less.
- On top of it its pretty bugged or feels some sort of "incomplete" to me, to much variation in quality and so on. In SP there are no big show-stoppers but in MP i already had a couple of CTDs after a like 10 minute long JIP Phase.
- Many scripts in the stock MP missions are bugged, very often i got messages like "You can not play this mission because it depends on downloadable content that has been removed: CA_particleeffects" and various other core "addons".
- No AA settings. Instead you have "Fillrate optimiser" which is like AA (100% = no AA, 150% = 2xFSAA, 200% = 4xFSAA) only it's much more demanding.
- AI is still very stupid. So far i could not see the benefits of the Mirco AI - and i have a Quadcore with 3.4GHz....
- View distance is a major FPS killer. I set mine to 1200 for maximum performance
- Setting model details too high will really kill performance in city areas.

Sounds great. Laughing

If bohemia didnt release the game in this state it just wouldnt be them lol, and we all know it will get patched eventually and pretty quickly judjing by the first beta patchs release anyway. And it will probably be a great game once it is.

Cool ! What's your rig ?

Nothing really special. An AMD X2 5200+ CPU, 8800 GTS 512mb, 2GB Patriot PC2 6400, Windows Vista.

I have been testing it at various levels of graphics and so far it runs great on High. Haven't cranked it up to Very High yet but will see. The only thing I don't like about the graphics is the motion blur effect. I think it is just a bit too much. Anyone know what setting lowers this?

yes this game might have needed another month or two to iron out some of the bugs.

that said, I have played almost all day (with the provided patch) and haven't encountered those critical bugs "PC Action" talks about. i never had to chase an important character through the woods or something, lol. might've been in the retail ver.

yes AI is pretty good around foliage, but that has always been the case with OFP/Arma1.

overall, this game is great. i love the "open-campaign" style this game has, much better than arma1. performance is also good for me but I also have a decent rig Very Happy

now to the negative, mp seems pretty laggy/shitty/disconnecty(?), although server seemed descent to me, probably needs another patch or two Very Happy

collection size: 3.85 GB, parts available: 14759 / 15013
- 1 par2 file
- 27 rar files

lulz, wish there was an nfo for that but Nooooooo there is not one showing on usenet.. oh well no idea what that is yet but prob just a upload of the digital german version im guessing with no workarounds, and even then you cant even start the game right Without activation?..
So even having english pack files make no diff cause you wont be able to start the game anyhow.
