German review up on http://www.pcaction.de/ArmA-2-Unser-Review-des-bugverseuchten-Armed-Assault-2/Tests/article/view/1294/1/1

Lemme give you a quick rundown of the review:

They gave it a 4/10 in its current state. The main problems seem to be catastrophic AI, crashes and serious game breaking bugs. They couldnt finish the main campaign because of scriptbugs. It seems Bohemia finished the development and skipped the QA process entirely.

There were Problems of soldiers not knowing what to do, AI helicopters crashing into the fauna, etc. The review stated that they couldnt even release a list of all the issues and bugs because there are so many.

A lot of clipping and texture problems seem to be present. They accuse Bohemia ripping off its customers, and hope they redeem themselves by patching the game swiftly.

PC Action is a rather respected print gaming mag in germany.

Oh, PC Action and other german gaming mags seem to have contacted Bohemia and they are working together to fix the issues. I wonder if thats the reason for the discrepancy of the German and US release, cheap beta testing.

I dont trust game review sites that dont know squat about tactical-realistic shooters. It's wierd that other ppl dont have so serious problems whit the game that they have described.

What activation.. there is only a serial with prob fade. Been said already that there is no online activation so what is this "activation you speak of"

If its a hardware key then its perfectly crackable, its wether the people that are great at it like say X-Force want to bother with games Very Happy

Can only say that theyre autodesk 2010 product listing key cracks and mem patching is second to none.

Man the atmospherics in this game are amazing now. To be true; it's really just ArmA with a lick of paint, but the explosions and combat ambience is so much more thrilling.

...of course I'm only writing this because I just got back from my first crash to the desktop Very Happy

Just be warned though; the English patch is not much of a patch at all... only some words, not many.

German version was released on Friday, first beta patch and English translation files are one page back but so far I've only seen the "Direct Download" version of the game itself available for download, there's a mini-image available but the download edition uses activation based protection (SecuROM) and not a disc check, probably also uses fade so it's uncertain how playable the game would be without a proper serial.
(I suppose a leaked serial number would work until the next patch if you firewall block the EXE.)

ArmA 1 had issues with x64 when the computer had more than 4 GB of RAM (Black screen instead of going to the main menu and starting.)

One of the patches fixed this and the latest beta patch solved the remaining issues relating to certain video cards on x64 Vista causing a black screen. Smile

(ArmA 2 is still 32-bit but can use more RAM and more efficiently than ArmA 1 can from what I've read, though the later was patched in order to address this in the most recent official update which was 1.14 or so before the latest beta update which as 1.15 or 1.16.)

Why ? What's with ATI ?

Also, any idea when the final 1.16 for the first ArmA will be out, and if it's gonna be the last patch ? (I don't want to go looking around forums)
