Actually it uses PhysX in what I call software mode (CPU handles everything, mainly ragdoll effects.) but it wasn't hardware accelerated until 2.40 via these new effects whereas the old physics mode is also used for ragdolls.
(There are PhysX dll files in the game folder and it needs to use some physics engine in order to handle ragdoll effects and particles but they weren't that demanding and as you say hardware acceleration wasn't added until 2.40 due to the reasons mentioned above.)
Or at least that's how I understand it, similar to Gothic 3 and Two Worlds in a way.
(Both use PhysX but only in software mode, bit of rubber effect to ragdolls in those early versions though as seen when hitting smaller animals, especially in Gothic 3 with rabits, snakes and such.)

Ah. Yeah, good point. I was referring to the actual hardware PhysX, that and I also don't recall the game asking for PhysX drivers when it was originally installed, though it was a long time ago so I don't remember >_<

Thats because most games get lazy and will just add "content" later, making patches huge!

Better late than never. And this is RPG, it's not uncommon for RPGs to receive lots of patches, so don't know why you act so surprised.

If you want to go all technical it's ARPG.

It's good fun in small doses, otherwise you begin to get overwhelmed by how bland it all feels. All the classes certainly play differently. I hope their next game has a completely different theme - maybe fighting punks and pedos in a modern day city.

Hey, when you get your game installed, patched to 2.40 and play a bit can you come back with a mini review? I want to know how it is now compared to 2.34. I don't own the game but have it installed, cracked with 2.34. Honestly, I thought they had the formula right with Sacred. They broke the formula with Sacred Underworld and that has carried over to Sacred 2. I was reading this and then got back to The Witcher EE last night and I was running through the swamp thinking how this game would suck if I couldn't walk for 50yds without being attacked. It's strange but you need a breather to soak in the atmosphere otherwise it's a an endless fight that doesn't allow you to enjoy the game as a whole.

will do, actually installed the *cough*demo*cough* version and its patched to 2.10, to be honest there is way too much combat in it, you cant walk 20 metres without encountering enemies (and the repspawn rate it scary too)but ill be able to tell you more once my copy arrives (due today) and i get it patched up to the latest version

The latest patch still has the 'infinite' spawns (they will respawn quickly and there are quite some enemies wherever you go.

IMO? Absolutely, yes. I bought the PC version and now I've just downloaded the 360 one too - so that I have something to sink my teeth into while I'm back in the UK for a month.
I really enjoy it, but then I'm hardly unbiased; I LOVE Ascaron and I LOVE hack'n'slash RPGs... hehe.

Depends on your expectations. If you need any kind of story in your RPG's, this one will bore you. If you like hack 'n slash and item collecting without bothering with the story, this one is pretty good and detailed. It's a bit generic and ALOT of things are reused over an over again, but for the price it's at now I'd say it is buy worthy.

Perhaps they might create something like that seeing as Sacred 1 had a vampire/knight class (Female) though I usually played as Gladiator since I prefer melee combat with heavy arms and armor.
(Gladiator was a pretty basic class however, hehe .)
Expansion also added Dwarf and Demoness as somewhat more advanced classes.
(Expansion also spammed enemies everywhere, haha.)

Expansion announced a couple days ago. Check out their official forums. Too fucked up to go there....
One character mentioned so far...apparent release date is end of July...most likely PC exclusive....several new areas with INSANE looking backgrounds and atmosphere....

Least you can do is mention what class it is.
It's a Dragonmage.

The best experience I had with this crappy game is when I deleted its image and its patches and freed up 13,5 gb
(I've posted earlier why it's so shit)
If anyone is thinking about pirating or buying this, then do yourself a favour and keep away. Last good h&s rpg was Titan Quest I think.

The thing about this game....and keep in mind I've been playing it for multiple hours per day since October is that there are no real Cookie-Cutter builds.
Even your skills/spells/attacks can be edited.
One of the best builds I made was a High Elf (fire)....
Randomly found an axe that allowed for a 5% chance to knock back opponents, and noticed it also affected spells....
Quickly (about a month of playing) acquired enough rings/amulets/armor with +% chance to knock back opponents until the "chance" was 100%
Then I would shoot out a wall of fire, which would knock back all opponents and hit them again, and again, and again, and again, until death.
KEEP IN MIND.....the +% chance to knock back opponents is one of over 100 little mods you can use to BUILD a strategy with from the ground up.

Yeah, Pyro High Elves seem to be the best characters at crowd control. Got one myself, and the Blazing Tempest is just unrivaled.
