Lost Odyssey is 4dvd9 so... even if this was a 5dvd9 game hell it would be worth it... would gladly see how would it look like on the XBOX360, even when i have MGS4 for my ps3 wold gladly buy it again for the xbox360 to see what have they changed

They could just make one chapter per DVD and there would even be less transition because of the stupid PS3 installs...

If I understood correctly a large part of the data on MGS4 was down to the uncompressed high quality audio on the blu-ray. Which incidentally sounds fantastic with a surround sound set-up.
Wouldn't see why the 360 could not run the game just as well as the PS3. Even if it was on multiple DVD's. The graphics were nice and did the job perfectly but not anything truly outstanding (it was only 720p after all). What made the game so good was the narrative and the way Kojima always puts so much attention to detail within his games.

I never said it couldn't, that was Hideo Kojima (and even he didn't say it COULDN'T be done, just it probably couldn't due to the way they created the game around the PS3 hardware - and he also mentioned the media) my comment was just referring to the fact that Microsoft charge epic royalties for games over 3 disks.

Takes about as much time to change a dvd. |
LOL, takes some truly hardcore delusional fanboyism to say 1-3 minutes wait is better than 5 secs that it takes to switch discs.

If my memory serves, every installation says that it will take 5 minutes but the reality is that it's never that long. But anyway, you're both splitting hairs. I'd personally rather have it all on one disc and install every now and again than have it across 4 or 5 discs but that does not change the fact that neither of the 2 scenarios are ideal.

They should have at least included the option to install all chapters if you want to...
But the discussion about installing/discs is just pure BS.
That is surely not the problem for releasing this game on the 360. There might be other technical problems, but surely not about how the game will fit on discs...

It could be the exclusivity deal Sony mentioned.

Have you guys checked the site lately? It now shows a 3 and a new countdown.. I'm guessing after the countdown with the 5, it showed the number 4?
Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc

Yes, they should've. And why not have the option to store the install permanently on the hdd? If I wanted to show certain parts to a friend or not play the game linearily, but jump from each chapter.... I have to goddamn install every time I jump. Piss poor install system, übergreat game.

The PS3 filing system it uses generally sucks ... (cannot do anything while a game/demo is installing, not being able to create folders within folders easily.. etc)

BR may be an expensive flop, but it offers magnificent visual clarity and storage space. What's the average PS3 game, guys? 25GB? 30GB? That would take 4+ DVD9s on the 360 - and I'm pretty sure MS have a restriction in place that prohibits that kind of release, if memory serves. |
??Restrictions.. There are already multidisk 360 games. And PS3 games take so much space because of lack of compression in FMV, Textures etc. And multiple instances of game data to speed of loading a seek times.
The reason there are exclusives on one system or the other has nothing to do with hardware or media. It has to do with contractual agreements between companies, kick backs etc. They will let you believe otherwise, so the fan-tards can feed there retardation.
I don't see why Sony just didn't do one install. I have a 80gig PS3, use the space and install all the chapters. But waiting for an install is no biggie, nor is switching disks. Neither bother me.

Restrictions, yes. A quick Google search shows you what I mean; Microsoft, apparently, charge HEFTY royalty fees for games that span multiple disks.

Slightly off-topic but seeing some people were talking about the MGS4 install time it seems even with a Solid State Drive in the PS3 it makes no difference... the install times for downloadable games are fantastic though..!
