I bought Universe at war for 98 pence, delivered a few weeks ago from play.com

i recently started replaying this game after updating to 1.0.3.0 patch. i found a tool called 'xliveless' from gtaforum:

it disables RGSC (rockstar social club)! i used to dread playing GTA IV because i have to login/launch the RGSC every time. now when i run GTA IV, it starts the game directly. i love the mod community.
it also disables file check (mod) and save file check (load any save file). there're more detailed info about the mod in the above link.

xliveless has been mentioned before in this thread mate. The only problem i have with using it, is, you wont get any achievements.

Don't know why it is so shitty?
-Better framerate than consoles (if you have a decent rig)
-Better resolutions than consoles
-Better control scheme (if I want to shoot someone in the eyeball, I shoot them in the eyeball)
-Shorter load times

There's also a lot of mods, 1.3.0 also removed the file check on most files aside from MP ones to try to limit hacks/cheats but that didn't work as ASI stuff still loads and there are loaders that work with MP so script hacks are still possible.
Everything from unofficial patches to car tweaks and proper decals/names to gameplay addons suh as bank robbing and prison breaks to texture and performance tweaks or even improved visual quality.
(There's a ton of retextures by now.)

You are mostly correct but PC version has bad z-fighting issues. Very noticeable when flying a heli.

Still a lot of stability, performance and graphical bugs, on both nV and AMD hardware. Performance tweaks can't do magic, they just remove features to make the game run a bit faster.

This, among other stuff. Until Rockstar fixes these bugs, it is still categorized as shitty.

does anyone know if the latest crack disables the windows live thing , i dont seem to have the windows live launching and loggin in stuff and want to play multiplayer, i have a offical key

Are you using xliveless ? Check your game folder for a xlive.dll file and rename it.

without having to read all 100 pages....
are there more ways of editing the video settings? cause i read the ingame ones are not very advanced or extensive, and as max settings are unplayable atm i would prefer to tweak it to my likings.
any tips are appreciated

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you can help me out with something.
Well basically I bought a legit cd-key off my friend, and I'm truly hoping I'll be able to play online without the disc. Can anyone please tell me how to do this?
I installed GTA4, then installed the 1.3.0 patch and then the razor crack...but it seems to have the xlive.dll so LIVE doesn't load when you start the game.
Now, I tried renaming the xlive.dll but it just gives an error saying 'Invalid resource detected'.
Can someone help me out on what I should do to get it to work so I can play MP? Maybe a different crack, or a way to mount the DVD so it thinks it's the original?

You will have to enter your LIVE key everytime you install a LIVE game.
