I wonder if 7127 still has that annoying split second stutter in animation when opening/closing windows.
Jesus, and here I thought there was a problem with my drivers or something. Very annoying, I just can't work like that. Weird I couldn't find people complaining about it.
What video card do you have? I'm on 4870, cat 9.5
I know. Maybe some people don't have such good attention to detail. But if you google there are more people complaining, and looks like it's not related to drivers or anything, Vista beta had same issue, but when RTM was out that issue disappeared. Should happen the same with Win7

Yeah, I've seen this too. Somebody had the same issue with Vista RC and it went away at RTM. No biggie, I'm not in a hurry, I can wait.
ManMountain, it's sort of a subtle thing that annoys the hell out of you when you are aware of it, but might not be noticed by some. Of course it's not happening to everyone, but who knows, some people might just miss it.

Checked that link, that would annoy the hell out of me. Thankfully I'm not afflicted by it and as Glottis mentioned earlier, I'm sure it'll be corrected come RTM time
1: Ability to add anything to the taskbar.
2: Icons expanding slightly when you move the mouse over the taskbar.
3: The menu "System" is simpler and easier to navigate.
4: You can change the Log-On screen from the menu "customize".
5: Right-Click menus now use Aero transparency.
6: Default folder icons have been changed to add transparency.
7: The "minimize/maximize/close" buttons have changed.
8: Added "Upload" for pictures/files/music/movies. If you right click on a file, just click on "UPLOAD", and you can upload the file to a website of your choice. After loading, a pop-up, and clicking "OK" you get the link to download the files you have uploaded and tested for use with ImageShack and Facebook. 9: Settings Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Japanese unicode (s) are integrated, so you can run applications and use of foreign keyboards without change and reboot.

That video is captured at shitty fps and it's nothing like the issue I have. I tried to look for a video at high fps displaying window opening/closing animations but couldn't find any. All seem to be recorded at shitty fps. Can't be bothered to plug in my HDD with win7 install and capture it myself
I just installed the 7100 build last night (64 bit), I like it but it seems like it actually takes LONGER to boot up than Vista 64 bit did, something that so far I have not read anywhere.
I have a Q6600 with 4gb Corsair DDR800 and an EVGA 8800GTS 320mb, help would be appreciated.

Heh, that's because all the websites and everyone in general has a huge bias towards Win7, they want you to think that Vista is Satan's spawn and Win7 is Jesus' second coming. It's quiet funny cos Win7 is pretty much entirely built on Vista, but everyone seems to ignore this fact. Win7 is not any faster than Vista on my system.

Yeah but I wouldn't even mind if it wasn't faster, but slower... pretty weak.
Nope, you are clearly just over biased! Clearly! You clearly think Win7 is Jesus' second coming! Glottis' system doesn't lie, it holds the universal truth applicable for all.

Ah, so now there's some huge M$-conspiracy to promote Windows 7? Ie. any tests, facts, benchmarks, subjective experiences etc. are all part of this conspiracy to make Windows 7 look better than it really is, and Windows 7 is really just Vista with a new name? Is that it?
Wow, and here I thought, after testing Windows 7 since build 6608, that Microsoft had indeed learned from some of the mistakes they did with Vista while making a somewhat leaner and better product. Guess I'm unknowingly brainwashed to be part of this conspiracy and any positive differences I've noticed or experienced are illusions, right?
w7 x64 is srsly faster [booting], smoother, much more responsive than vista x64 on both my pc and a laptop with a dc 1.8ghz and 2gb, eats less ram as well
very very laptop friendly with dim and stuff
my vista have been acting up lately so i'm thinking about installing it on my primary pc
Just installed it now 7100, fucking heck its great! Installed the whole OS so far without even the need to reboot after the driver installs that alone is a plus for me.. droool. its deffo faster than a perfectly installed vista x64 I had few moments earlier. Im impressed so far..
Upgrading worth it anyone? Via downloading the latest build and running via the iso file?

Calm the fuck down there, you'll get a stroke or something. And here I was just talking about bias... Some people think old unfunny pictures prove something and I think that numbers do, so here: http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=4228&page=3
I get same results on my system btw, some games are few fps faster on win7 and some games are faster on vista, all in all performance is about the same between the two OS'es.
All in all its working nicely so far for me here, Just wondering how more streamlined it is because I install my OS on a 50gb partition with a 6.147gb pagefile max/min settings on C: and I have 32gb free space in windows 7 still but on vista I had like 19gb or something free.
Nothing I install app wise or game wise touches the OS partition thats only for the OS period.. Is it really that much lighter?
Yes and no, actually mate. Did you have 19GB left on Vista after months of use? Or "directly after install"? The WinSxS folder is the culprit for Vista using so much space (and, indeed, after a few months you'll start to notice the same with Win7 too)
WinSxS is a fucking plague, though the theory is sound. It's supposedly used to keep backup copies/earlier versions of key system files (.dlls and the like) but sadly that folder grows and grows and grows over time. My Win7 was only installed last month (22nd April, to be exact) and the WinSxS folder is already 6GB.

It's not lighter, it'll grow larger the more you use. Also if you have more than one physical drive it's better to move page file to another one, will increase performance.
