more romance. a one night stand is easier to get than marriage :p
romance enough and you'll eventually be able to ask her to go steady and later marry.

I think I read at Gamespot forums that you need a high gardening skill, and the seed itself is a reward from an opportunity (most likely triggered from having the high skill).

Anyone know what the Ambrosia recipe does, exactly? I bought the recipe since the book store was having a sale (9000 instead of 12000, just bought it because it was expensive Very Happy).
I know in greek mythology it's the food of the gods that granted immortality to whoever consumed it, but it can't be that awesome in the game too (unless it's connected to the tree of life... Can't read the book yet since it requires cooking 10)?

Recipe for Ambrosia requires deathfish and lifefruit. Where do you get the deathfish from? Fishing at the graveyard at night? And while we're at it.... Any idea where to get the flamefruit from?

Yeah you can trigger the next phase of life prematurely if you blow on the candles.

I think I read somewhere that Ambrosia lets your sims have immortal babies... Not sure though

I've been fishing for Deathfish at Maxlevel with Angelfish as bait, which is the correct bait for catching deathfish, but so far no luck Razz

Havn't even tried gardening yet. Super keen to see what Ambrosia does, would be cool to have your sim being the only immortal one Smile

It's in the Friendly menu. Just keep talking with her, then suggest to move in with her. Then you can choose where to move and what to do with the old house and furniture. Smile

In case noone figured it out yet, to get Deathfish, you have to fish at the graveyard, with Angelfish, after 00:00. When you see smoke above the water and Grim Reaper looking fish in the water, you'll catch some Deathfish.

EA are giving away a whole new town (for free) upon the games official launch I just read (sorry if this has already been reported). Hopes that some kind souls will upload this somewhere when it arrives. Smile

No.
Straight from the EA store:

Pre-order now from EA Store™ and get these exclusive addons for free!

EA Stores™ exclusive living vines pattern!
Sim Points worth 10 bucks for The Sims™ 3 Store
Access to the other half of the world
Special Bonus: exclusive music for The Sims™ 3!
Exclusive PDF-poster with Datarock!

So you see, the EA spokeswoman that reported the second city as being free with the full game as opposed to the pirated version (on MSNBC or whatever) was lying. It's only free if you pre-order the game from certain stores. It is in fact NOT availible by just installing the game from the retail disc (even if the content is already there).
The wonderful age of DLC.

No that part is referring to the store-bought version having only one half of the original game town unlocked:

"the finished product is set up to only play half the neighborhood. To unlock the other half, you need to actually register your product (EDIT: Register it online.) Once you register your product, the game unlocks everything and you have access to the Sims 3 Store to get things like Riverview." (<= user quote, so that's not necessarily true - but Riverview is indeed for everyone).

The second town, Riverview, is free for everyone who registers.

Sorry Baleur, but inz is right here --- the second town, Riverview, is available to everyone. You can even see the download on the Sims 3 Store, it just isn't active yet.

worth a shot yes, I was like hmm odd this is panning around in map mode with no jerking anywhere.. Finicky fraking games and drivers hehe, its the only thing ive never truly understood with ati and thats the "AI" setting. Ill have to read up to see what it really does do for the most part.
Years ago when I had my misses rig and the 9800xt i recall the introduction of the AI stuff and found it was always better off as well. I guess today it varies with new game design but back then was so true that it was pretty much useless.

You know, I think why this worked. When you change the drivers, it sets settings back to default. Tested with "Hide objects on different floors" and with this enabled, I think it makes everything stuttery. So could be that...

HOLY SHIT!

Moose, you're a damned genius! I just put Cat AI to "standard" as well and while the stutter is still there, it's massively diluted! Now it's actual stutter rather than frame-rate drops!

Cat AI - Advanced: framerate dropped to 30s when panning around the map and house.
Cat AI - Standard: framerate never drops below 55-60, still stays up in its high 80s, with mild stutter.

I'm still on Cat 9.4s, but I'm going to uninstall and upgrade to 9.5s today. Will let you know. Oh and I don't have the "Hide objects" thing enabled .. I like seeing objects everwhere, like light fixtures from the ceiling.

Its probably swings and roundabouts the cat AI thing but its often worth trying it in standard or off i find if a game is not up to par as it should be and youve only been playing it with full advanced AI settings.

What is nice as well is I have 2 screens here and it runs well also in window mode and the self sizing works really well also. Can troll forums Very Happy, model in softimage, have other apps open being constructive and just play sims in a tiny window as well hehe works out really good.

Catalyst AI is actually supposed to enhance performance on your system. Can't say I've ever noticed a difference though. Just make sure to keep it enabled if you have a Crossfire setup; disabling Catalyst AI with crossfire( or a X2 card ) effectively disables the second card.
