That's not really how game engines work...

no shit sherlock
a quick an easy job with the UE3 engine and you get a game that still looks like gow and UT3
but with some good effort and experience like mass effect and r6 vegas, you can barely notice it's UE3

open environments, frenetic combat, daredevil acrobatics and
high-octane vehicle-based stunts. Presenting players with an
intense test of reflexes, quick thinking and rapid-fire conflict,
Damnation will feature vast, breathtaking landscapes, each covering
miles of distance and thousands of vertical feet

Billed as a shooter gone vertical and visually inspired by iconic
elements of American history, these massive streaming landscapes
will form the battlegrounds for a post-industrial conflict between
humanity and an unstoppable arms dealer hell-bent on total world
domination

Players will be able to choose their own paths and navigate the
world by performing daredevil feats on the edge of human ability
However, players arent the only ones with mind-blowing acrobatic
skills intelligent enemies will give chase and engage players in
frantic gun fights and attacks that can come from any direction
in Damnations world theres no safe place to hide

With up to three hours of actual gameplay stretching out in front
of them per level, players will need more than just muscle power
to get across each level safely. Damnation will offer players a
selection of awe-inspiring vehicles, from motorbikes capable of
launching across seemingly infinite chasms, to huge, armour
piercing marvels that will induce mayhem with every huge shell

The high action will be supported with an epic and in-depth story
which, while focusing on the exploits of the hero character Rourke,
is truly an ensemble piece. Players will meet and become involved
in intricate story plots that reveal much more than the obvious

In addition to the single player experience, Damnation comes
complete with a unique set of multiplayer options that take full
advantage of the games expansive levels

Heh, American McGee's Grimm were "quick and easy" games too, and they look nothing like UT3 or GOW...

So Platin released this? looks like a interesting FPS, haven't checked the console section in a while though so perhaps it turns out to be just another mediocre Unreal Engine 3 title.
(Engine itself is good of course but it's not like all titles using it have been great.)

Still it might be a fun little shooter. Smile

I suggest checking the console section, not a good mini review in there. Saved myself a verb...might still try the PC version though.

Im pretty sure its going to be the same shit on PC Wink

90% of poeple i know who tried the game played between 5 and 15 minutes before putting it away. If you play with a controller or mouse/keyboard, it wont make the game better. Maybe the controls will be better since you can remap on PC but it wont change anything for the rest

It sucks less on the pc,since the controls are better for shooting. Very Happy
Doesn't change the overall game though. Stiff animations, dumb AI and the feel of clunkiness throughout the game.
Still it's not all that bad...it can be fun too at times. Give it a try,who knows.

Some screens:

 Spoiler:

Weird thing though,it crashed on me in the first level after the robot scene when playing on hardcore, but if I play the same checkpoint with casual it doesn't crash... Confused

It's a clone so unless you use DT Pro with vIDE it'll require something to hide the emulator program from the protection system like either YASU or DTE.

Shouldn't be a problem though as both are freely available from the Daemon Tools forums, no need to register and they work with the Lite version of DT.
(Or at least YASU does, bit uncertian about DTE as it's been a while since I used it.)

Works fine with the dt lite4.30.4. No cloaking program required.

Engine usually doesn't dictate filesize unless it uses some weird uncompressed formats, in this case those UT file extension archives are compressed and it also uses DDS textures which are further compressed, unsure about music and sound files though but if the game is multi-language then that'll add a bit to the filesize.

Ofcourse with a bit of work it might be possible to make it 2x DVD5 instead if you are considering burning it, can't do much about the filesize if it's the download limit that you're concerned about however.

EDIT: Seems Daemon Tools own system manages without the use of other extensions this time.
(It's usually updated for every release but also quickly patched by the various copy protections.)

Well played the game a bit.

The jump and run is just lame. It breaks up the action with lame "press the right button combination here" parts. Assasins Creed did that way better.

Weapons seem just lame. Everything but the pistols are so inaccurate you need to basicly shoot point blank not to waste more then half of the mag in the wall behind the enemy.
I wont even start on the sounds of the guns. Most of them sound like peashooters.

Just isnt really fun.

Uninstall and delete for me.

2.6GB of it are for movies, which, like in most UE3 games, are rendered in game, but are put in a Bink file, instead of having them rendered during game.
