Not to mention he did not actually have to include the quote from sabin, just the first was needed, a little bit more thought on presentation of who he was replying to wouldnt of been a lot of effort Very Happy

Otherwise to me that would seem like a dig at the right guy but also to include sabins just to cause a reaction. Which of course it did..

info from official forum of game:

The just released movie-to-game adaptation Terminator Salvation has apparently got a major show-stopping bug for the retail PC version of the game. The game's official message board has a long thread full of people who cannot install the game from the CD. Instead they have encountered an error message (-5006:0x80070002) when clicking the .exe file.

This apparently is just for the retail box copies of the game; the downloadable versions that can be found on Steam, Direct2Drive and other locations don't appear to have this install bug. A person who identified himself as a GRIN dev team member posted on the message board "The issue is being investigated, and we will get back to you asap". To make matters worse it appears that the support email address and phone number for the game's publisher, Evolved Games, do not work either.

That's messed up big time, I feel sorry for people who bought the game. And it's not like this issue can be patched up or something. Maybe if they release fixed file and we copy dvd content to hdd and replace with fixed file it would work. Sucks anyway.

@newty Did you update your .net to 3.5 sp1 and update all visual c++ runtime. Because the error is created by a .cpp file. Maybe that will make it work, but i'll doubt it.

thats unlucky for the peeps that bought the game. Reminds me of NW2 and that Shandra game stopping bug.. poor bastards probably have to jump through hoops to get a working fix ..

Who needs piracy to to screw up the PC scene when the people that make games do a pretty good job of it themselves.

The only problem i remember with retail discs is some reading issues sometimes but never a massive 100% error like this.

Hey hey hey, don't knock retail and publisher issues guys ... without them we wouldn't have been given our "The Club" keys free of charge Laughing

This is what piracy is all about, people. It's basically the practice of letting the retail suckers pay first and play later - while we sit back and wait for the dust to settle ^_^

Installer problems rarely happen, but I've seen it before. They'll probably make an updated installer that users will download and run (having the dvd in the drive)

The installer doesn't have to be on the dvd, contrary to popular belief Laughing

Assuming it's just the installer that's bad and not actual game files then it would be possible to install the game unpacking install shield .cab files. JB knows more about this stuff Smile

Maybe if you manual unpack the .cab files and then start the game but This will take a while and you need to know a thing or two about the folder management of the game.

Maybe if you extract all contents from the image to a folder on your hdd and rename data2.cab to data1.cab or maybe you do not need data1 at all and just extract all other cab files and put them in one directory and start the game.
