What cheats? Guys, just go to the options page and chose Gameplay options -- you can extend Sim age or even disable it altogether Razz

I didn't want to disable, so I just set it to 960 days Very Happy

Do you still have to hold their hand all the feckin' time or can you set the AI to full ("high free will") and they'll finally at least maintain the status quo and try to achieve their goals by getting to work, reading/working out/grinding, getting promoted, peeing when needed and living their lives without you being there to put out fires, feed them, tell them to take out the trash and basically repeat the same most mundane tasks that we are (or should be) doing for real. I played The Sims 2 a bit, made some awesome designs if I do say so myself. I hope there's more flexible designs. Once the design stage was done, it felt like I was fighting the game mechanics and grinding my stats in between trips to the bathroom that can take hours if your dude has to walk a long way. That sucked.

There could be a fun game if the Sims would live on their own and try to achieve their goals completely on their own. The game then becomes a mixture of voyeur viewing, soap drama and me influencing their lives to mold them into my own image and try to score with the chick next door - but whether or not I score, I cry myself to sleep because let's face it, getting your Sim to score is just as pathetic as them being shot down as either way at least they're out there and I'm ... er, where was I? Oh yeah, less grinding more sand-box social simulator.

I FINALLY got the option now! I guess it takes alot of time to do all those flirting stuff for the bar to increase to "romance interested" or something. Then eventually you can propose. So if you are still wondering just keep doing those romance actions and it should come up eventually.

OH MY GOD

Here I was thinking 'whatever, Sims 2.5' when EA/Maxis went 'BAM! suck on these changes bitch!'

Alright, I'm just gonna come right out and say it, this game is phenominal! They've turned what was a fairly dreary but kinda neat house making/sim torturing game into something actually tangible. The whole game seems completey new and fresh. So many changes I don't even know where to begin. I've been playing for the last 4-5 hours and I've barely scratched the surface. I still can't believe this is a fucking Sims game.

First, the best thing they did was give a Style feature to...well to EVERYTHING! Gone, long gone are the days of picking stuff based on it looks, because now you have complete control over everything from patterns to colours. And not just like 2 or 3 colours either...hue/saturation/brightness are all options you can play with. About god damned time!

Then there's the new Make a Sim...prepare to spend hours fucking around with that. I was loling so hard at the hair options. Root colour? Highlights? Are you fucking kidding me? Clothing too...a fair amount to choose from, about as much as can be expected. Once you tack on that new Styles feature though, suddenly the lineup grows by the thousands. Like the way the green shirt and hoodie look, but hate the colours? Change em to whatever you want! Hell give the hoodie an army camo look and throw some skulls on the tshirt! Can't wait to see community added patterns!

Then you get to house building. All you interior designers are gonna love it. I know I do. No longer are you restricted by set wallpapers or paint patterns or anything. Once again Styles to the rescue. But that's not all! Ok we're still stuck on a grid. It sucks, I hate it. I guess it can't be helped. They did however make it smaller, and something else...you can place multiple items on end table and stuff...there's like a whole seperate placement system for tables and it really adds an organic feel to decors. New roofing system too, allows you to adjust roof height and other stuff. Much much nicer than previous sims. Say bye bye to huge freaking pyramid roofs!

Getting to the 'gameplay'...well Sims has never really had any. They've comepletely revamped the whole system though. Everything is different, from the way you choose traits, to lifelong aspirations...immediate needs....desires...so much new stuff. The needs are down to 6, Hunger, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Social and Fun. Easier to maintain and you get little bonus' for keeping them up (Bonus 10 to mood for eating well for example). This ties in with the new career planner, in that you get a progress bar that grow while you're at work, and depending on how happy you are at work, and how skilled you are, you could start getting raises and promotions. You get a new option window to choose how you want to behave at work. Sucking up to the boss is there, along with slacking off, or chillin by the water cooler. Lots of neat stuff. Everything is seamless to, no more loading times switching between neighbourhoods. You get a cell phone now, and going into the city to do stuff is rediculously easy now. You can do all sorts of stuff and it isn't just a 'maintain my stats in a place different from my house'. You can go to the bookstore and buy books, all kinds, and reading them can give you bonus' to social interactions. Or they can improve your skills. Or they can teach you new recipes. You can go grocery shopping, and even save your shopping list, lol. Man, I could go on and on...everything is just so different.

Trash sims all you want. Whatever, I don't care. You're missing out if you don't at least try this one. Fucks Sims 1 and 2. They're bullshit. They suck so god damned hard compared to 3 it isn't even funny. I still can't believe what I just played...god damn...

how much did EA pay you to post this? Very Happy

That's why i never play Sims when it's just out, it really ruins the experience. I think they're very underrated games amongst "hardcore gamers". Gonna be fun to play when the addons and mods are released, the mod community is really incredible (but unfortunately, greedy).

I chose to become a sports superstar. No time wasters, but the higher in rank you go, the shorter days/hours you work. You get more money, but you basically work all week (at work training, and then game days) which makes juggling time for training/team building/personal gardening (my Sim also has a green thumb, but fuck me if watering ONE plant doesn't take 30 minutes) nearly impossible. My sim has NO LIFE, other than hanging out on their own, gardening every now and then, making good meals, sweating it out hardcore on the treadmill, and winning futbol games. Sad sad life they have.

Well currently my 3 sims are working their asses of, whole day long - in politics, journalism and law enforcement.. After work they have no time for anything but a a quick meal & shower, a bit TV and.. it's sleep time.. a real life simulator Very Happy

It was hilarious how i mismanaged a party once, instead the evening ..about 20 ppl came in while all the sims were at work - the guests eated all my food, left a complete mess, and were not happy about it -> The sim that invited them was so depressed in the end Very Happy

Great game - too bad i get random PC lockups sometimes... loosing 1 hour of gameplay is just terrible, new drivers time...

The only "fix" I found for it, is to just restart the game every once in a while..

I know, i was surprised as hell. Vast gameplay improvements over the previous games (2 was almost a copy of 1, though improved)
Just imagine when the pets, vampires and werewolves, and all kinda shit expansions gets released lol. It'll be crazy.
I love this game. Call me a fruit, i dont give a damn. I love it. <3
Now i gotta go cheat on my gf (the ugly army brat, which will become a friggin old granny after 2 days, i dont want that anymore!) with a new goth chick i just created. Very Happy

Btw does anyone else have an issue with Anti-Aliasing not working in Create-A-Sim or the head pop-up when clickin an item? It works in the main view though.. I had the same issue in Spore, AA worked in the actual game, but not in the sporepedia, editors or the pic-in-pic windows.
I tried to force it via the nvidia driver panel or just using the ingame setting, no change.

I do remember fixing it by switching to an old old driver, but meh i forgot which, and i think it was such an old one that it didnt even have physx. So screw that Razz
But if anyone knows of a semi-new driver that fixes this, let me know Smile
