I'm also getting heavy microstuttering, although the game runs at 100+ fps. Tried vsync on and off with no change.
Thats with a 8800gts 512 and 185.85 drivers.

Here I was thinking 'whatever, Sims 2.5' when EA/Maxis went 'BAM! suck on these changes bitch!'
Alright, I'm just gonna come right out and say it, this game is phenominal! They've turned what was a fairly dreary but kinda neat house making/sim torturing game into something actually tangible. The whole game seems completey new and fresh. So many changes I don't even know where to begin. I've been playing for the last 4-5 hours and I've barely scratched the surface. I still can't believe this is a fucking Sims game.
First, the best thing they did was give a Style feature to...well to EVERYTHING! Gone, long gone are the days of picking stuff based on it looks, because now you have complete control over everything from patterns to colours. And not just like 2 or 3 colours either...hue/saturation/brightness are all options you can play with. About god damned time!
Then there's the new Make a Sim...prepare to spend hours fucking around with that. I was loling so hard at the hair options. Root colour? Highlights? Are you fucking kidding me? Clothing too...a fair amount to choose from, about as much as can be expected. Once you tack on that new Styles feature though, suddenly the lineup grows by the thousands. Like the way the green shirt and hoodie look, but hate the colours? Change em to whatever you want! Hell give the hoodie an army camo look and throw some skulls on the tshirt! Can't wait to see community added patterns!
Then you get to house building. All you interior designers are gonna love it. I know I do. No longer are you restricted by set wallpapers or paint patterns or anything. Once again Styles to the rescue. But that's not all! Ok we're still stuck on a grid. It sucks, I hate it. I guess it can't be helped. They did however make it smaller, and something else...you can place multiple items on end table and stuff...there's like a whole seperate placement system for tables and it really adds an organic feel to decors. New roofing system too, allows you to adjust roof height and other stuff. Much much nicer than previous sims. Say bye bye to huge freaking pyramid roofs!
Getting to the 'gameplay'...well Sims has never really had any. They've comepletely revamped the whole system though. Everything is different, from the way you choose traits, to lifelong aspirations...immediate needs....desires...so much new stuff. The needs are down to 6, Hunger, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Social and Fun. Easier to maintain and you get little bonus' for keeping them up (Bonus 10 to mood for eating well for example). This ties in with the new career planner, in that you get a progress bar that grow while you're at work, and depending on how happy you are at work, and how skilled you are, you could start getting raises and promotions. You get a new option window to choose how you want to behave at work. Sucking up to the boss is there, along with slacking off, or chillin by the water cooler. Lots of neat stuff. Everything is seamless to, no more loading times switching between neighbourhoods. You get a cell phone now, and going into the city to do stuff is rediculously easy now. You can do all sorts of stuff and it isn't just a 'maintain my stats in a place different from my house'. You can go to the bookstore and buy books, all kinds, and reading them can give you bonus' to social interactions. Or they can improve your skills. Or they can teach you new recipes. You can go grocery shopping, and even save your shopping list, lol. Man, I could go on and on...everything is just so different.
Trash sims all you want. Whatever, I don't care. You're missing out if you don't at least try this one. Fucks Sims 1 and 2. They're bullshit. They suck so god damned hard compared to 3 it isn't even funny. I still can't believe what I just played...god damn... |
Have you use the propose interaction yet? I still cant find it. They've been best friends since adult now almost dying! Still cant see that option anywhere!

Same. I turned the games settings all the way up, and all the way down, and it runs like crap when I try to pan.

I thought about that too. So I went around to see if there's a shopping store but there's only that grocery store and that book shop. So I have no idea if I'm over looking or what. I even browsed through all the "buy" inventory and still couldn't find anything. This is really bugging me!

Go visit the mausoleum in the cemetery if you get the chance (spoilered just in case):

Creepy place... My hair turned white, and I only had a buzzcut when I went in. But the scariest thing of all, I had clothes when I went in.
I just hope it really was ghosts and not a rapist gang of homeless people.

In the Eurogamer preview he was able to get married, so unless this is an even earlier build without that option there must be some way of doing it that you just aren't thinking of - and in the Eurogamer preview he mentioned that there was some confusion in how certain things worked
Reading the positive comments here is erm, strange, but long may it continue...

The goal choice whatever it is I chose Evil emperor lol. Ive not looked yet but can u start the tutorial again as I had to close it to save the game.. Now when i restart will it of gone for good on that character?
Noticed a screenshot came out rather low lighting as well not like how it really is shown ingame..

Game is great.
It just closed on me though, no error no nothing. Had my Sim go into the Cinema to watch a movie, and -BAM- game quit itself. Maybe an unfixed trigger?

I downloaded this game for my wife, but I have been spending more time on it than her...lol. The game runs super smooth on my pc, the first time I can say that about a Sims game. looks like Maxis have redeemed themselves after the debacle that was Spore!!!

Is it me or there's hardly any haircuts available for instance ?
Overall the creation of characters seems weak.

Well it doesn't seem like you can play more than one Sim per game; unless you make a family - I havent tried that yet. Getting the hang of my character. I tried to create a Garden for my sim, but the "fence" I got was just a small nub. Lame. At least you can move plants once planted.

Anyone have problems with antialiasing. It doesnt work for me, even from Ati Control Panel. Also Adaptative antialiasing makes some objects wrong, and some characters bald xD
btw, im having fun with this game. I had fun also with sims2, but it only lasted a few days.
I hope the traits add some replay value to the game.
