Damn, I want medication too but the fun kind. painkillers, anti depressants something like that.
But around here doctors don't prescribe the heavy stuff that easily...

changing meds is good, it helps break the tolerance Wink

edit: anti-depressants ? fun? Confused you'd be better off with beer (or pretty much anything else), no matter from what point of view you'd be comparing them Smile

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, IGNORANCE!

There is no high involved, and for people not suffering from depression the medication itself can actually induce an apathetic state due to receptor down regulation. Not to mention the horrid side effects. I have a friend currently on Prozac, and while he's better then he was, it's still not a pretty sight.

Yeah, well they can be used to potentiate certain psychoactives, but that's not what were were talking about, is it?

Don't know that anymore been a couple of years then again I'm sure that the stuff we get around here (Germany) has pretty different names to your stuff so I'm sure it wouldn't help that much either.
Maybe it was just imaginary or whatever but worked for me.
Then again I had to take anti depressant end of '07 and the beginning of '08 and that stuff made me feel pretty apathetic but it took away my down feeling so I guess it worked.
I only took the stuff for about two weeks anyway.
Until I learned that this stuff supposedly can alter the dna you pass onto your kids and I didn't wanna screw with that shit so I stopped taking them (I was over my depression shortly after that, not thanks to a psychotherapist Very Happy)

Dude, 2 weeks is not long enough for any standard anti-depressant to have a significant effect. Maybe they put you on an amphetamine derivative like Ritalin or Adderall which they sometimes prescribe for cases of refractory depression over here. That would have rapid and fairly potent mood enhancing effects.

I've not suffered from chronic depression, but I have suffered from benzodiazepine withdrawal related depression and it was horrible enough that I wouldn't hesitate to take medication if I thought it would alleviate those symptoms.

I, on the other hand, have - and do - suffer from chronic depression. I've been on every bloody medication known to man and the only ones that ever worked for me, actually keeping me feeling centered and less anxious/destructive, were Citalopram Hydrobromide (Celexa) None of my medications have ever induced feeling of "high" - that's just an old wives tale, but Celexa worked in that it kept me feeling relatively normal.

I spent over a year on fluoxetine (Prozac) and they nearly killed me. Side effects like a motherfucker, including intense suicidal feelings. I'll never touch that fucking shit EVER again.

I've been off medication now for almost 18 months and, happy to say, doing great ----- though living with my girlfriend in Norway might have had something to do with that Razz

you can get high on antideps if you mix them with alcohol. it's actually an ok high, but the next day after effects prevent me from recommending this Smile

I know but the reason I stopped taking it wasn't because I was feeling better but because I didn't want suffer from any side effects that made my kids be born like mutants and shit O.o
And soon after I stopped taking them I met my current gf so she kinda took over the role of "anti depressant" Wink
The first time I had to take them I took them for 4 or 5 months or so but that was a different anti depressant.
