True, true, but it's kinda hard not to get hammered when you don't know your limits. And also there's kinda group effect to it: when everybody around you drinks it's kinda bad to be the only one who's not drinking (alcohol that is)...
Oh yeah for me the best part of drinking is being a little tipsy, after few drinks, but I usually continue on and get to the weird sensation part, when everything around you is dizzying a bit  After that it's either stopping at that point and fall asleep (booring  ) or going on and afterwards puking your guts out

I used to drink SOOOO much and because of that, I stopped drinking.
I will have the occasional 2 beers or a Martini but other than that, my days of gettin shit faced are over.

If I am going to drink liquor, I will only drink Fine Wines, Grey Goose Vodka, Silent Sam and single malt 18 or older year scotch, neat.
I may sound pretentious, but I have drank a TON of liquor in my day and unless its quality, I can't stomach it.
But I must admit, I do like the occasional bottle of Appleton's Gold. Thats good rum.
The quality Jameson stuff is good aswell.
And I like Whiskey Sours.

Martini's are excellent Wasn't a fan up until a few months ago. I actually like them now. I'm a beer man myself, but when I go out with my girl and a certain group of her friends they like to go these dumb fuckin lounge/bars (i'm more a pool hall kinda guy, some beer, pool, maybe some light gambling) and the only beer they serve is shit beer (all imported but not good imported). So the only option is liqour....and I really only like whiskey sour's (too much drinking 40 ouncers in my youth) but got turn on to Martini's. They are decent and don't get you hammered (well, don't get me hammered).
Martini's and REAL Absinthe....yummmm. I say real absinthe because European Absinthe is illegal in NA but we have our own "absinthe" that isn't fuckin absinthe.
There's also this greenish/blueish liquor thats made from the coke plant and it gets you high but its legal and fairly inexpensive (given what its made from).
I have one of the bottles around here somewhere. I buy it occasionally cuz it kinda tastes like coolaid with a hint of liqour but one mickey gets you smashed (not drunk tho, more like high). Great shit.
