The console version has been officially cancelled. CDProjekt's statement:

Our main goal is always to make every release better than the previous one. Unfortunately, this project was not going in the right direction. We are now looking into all possible scenarios, and we will do all we can to retain our fans’ confidence in us. We simply will not let them down; the quality of our games remains the highest priority.”
Since The Witcher’s release in October 2007 most of the CD Projekt RED team has been working on another major project. Information about this title will remain secret for the time being.
CD Projekt RED will reveal the new project in the coming months. |

Good riddance tbh. Majority of console players didn't even want this game, it seems like the only people who wanted console version were the ones who finished PC version 2-3 times and wanted to play it again with possibly some new additions. Well that won't happen now so it's all irrelevant I guess.

It's only good riddance if they actually start work on a PC sequel now.

i'm guessing they canceled it because of their lack of experience with programming for consoles. wouldn't make sense, then, for their mystery project to be a console game too. and even if it's not the witcher 2, i trust cd proj is gonna make something cool anyway

Bioware had no problem to put it on xbox (KOTOR used a modified Aurora engine). I'm quite sure CD-Project altered the engine just as much for The Witcher.

It also includes more content (new adventures) and no more DRM. Also, all versions can be upgraded to 1.5, no need to rebuy.

EDIT: Also, I don't remember homo,rape and domestic violence, is it totally new dialogue/content ?

Look, everyone already knows how stunningly awesome even VANILLA "Witcher" was - so an expanded content pack, for free, just further cements the deal. Ignore the trolls, they're missing out on greatness ^_^

Excellent news!!! I am currently going through this game for the first time and it's absolutely incredible! These devs are awesome and it made me sad when the X360 version failed. It would have been more money for a well deserving dev team. This will make me go through it again once I have solved the EE.

Well, even the EE had a few leftover "weird dialogues" where I unavoidably felt that half the conversation was missing, despite the valiant effort to root them out. I hope that now we can experience the entire thing.
