why is charles whitmore suposed to give a shit about getting back to the island anyway? he is mega rich, the island doesnt seem to be worth anything anymore apart from it can teleport through time and er has a smoke monster

farradys mother didnt really seem to give a shit and ben and the others probably werent doing fuck all but sunbathing and having a book club before the plane crash.

in RL he could just buy richard bransons island and save himself a lot of fucking trouble!
dont even tell me its just because of revenge on ben!

Well, the island can let you time travel, maybe he believes it can make him younger or invincible or something like that.

Or maybe he has to back in time to tell his younger self what to do to make things go this way.

Damn what a finale, blew me away and damn the them for ending it the way they did. Have to wait 6 months for season 6!!!!!!

Anyone else got an Able & Cain vibe at the beginning with jakob and the other guy?
And the ship probably carried Richard.
Anyone able to translate the stuff richard said in spanish?

I think it was latin, do you guys realize that this is the 3rd season in a row when we see a dead Locke in the finale?

it sure has to mean something.

Was that Locke (or the guy impersonating him) Jacob was talking to on the beach...?
I am pretty sure it was...talking about "finding a loophole"

And Ricardus (Richard) says
"Ile qui nos omnes servabit," which is Latin for "He who will save us all.”

Have to agree. Watching this seasons finale made me also think Biblical. The island, access to or actually is the Garden of Eden? Abel and Cain or Jacob and Esau?

A 6 month wait .. aarr! Smile

I feel more like "Atlantis" maybe. The island/continent that vanished...
But garden of Eden is also a pretty good analogy.

Found this at Lostpedia's forum.

The Greek in the fabric woven by Jacob

is verse 6.180 of the Odyssey

English: may the gods grant thee all that thy heart desires

Greek: [σοὶ δὲ] θεοὶ τόσα δοῖεν ὅσα φρεσὶ σῇσι μενοινᾷς,

also, when Ben and fake Locke go to meet Jacob, a fragment of Odyssey 24.402 is shown

English:hail to thee, and all welcome, and may the gods grant thee happiness

Greek: [οὖλέ τε καὶ μάλα χαῖρε, θεοὶ δέ τοι] ὄλβια δοῖεν.

So...Greek...maybe Atlantis ain't that wrong maybe. On the other hand Homer's Odyssey, about a mans long journey home...who knows.

ATLANTIS MYTHOS

If this island is Atlantis then the title of the series is perfect.

Well no one knows what it is, but I can't shake the feeling that whatever it is, it's going to be mindblowing and outstanding, I have never lost my faith in this series, and I believe we will be heavily rewarded when it reaches it's final episode.

As for his character, O'Quinn says he's really gone. Locke's dead body was rolled out of a metal box toward the end of the two-hour episode, baffling islanders who had been following a Locke imposter. Exactly who is now occupying Locke's body wasn't revealed. O'Quinn said it would be "a good guess" to assume it's a man seen with the infamous Jacob in the beginning of the episode.

"I think, unfortunately, I think it's ended for Locke. But I'm still there, as far as I know," O'Quinn said. "I don't know how it's going to end for this other guy. I'm sad. I miss John Locke, poor guy. He was a pawn."

One thing I hated about the finale, it was the silly music they put on season finales, when a bunch of people are walking from place to place. You know, the one which sounds like "Oh we're going to a picnic and nothing bad will happen". Smile

Well, it would be more suitable lol. The Lost music in general is very poorly made, but this takes the cake as the worst one.

I agree with you on that specific music, it's really annoying, but the melodic music they use in emotional scenes it's really good.

Yeah but she's so goddamn beautiful! Especially when she's not wearing much make-up. At least leave some eye candy in the series.

Lets be clear though, while the character of 'Locke' is dead, the actual actor will continue starring in the series, just as a bad guy now.

well, we don't know who actually represents good or evil, we are lead to believe that Jacob is good and this other entity is evil, but by the end it may not be the case.

Well judging from his manipulative, deceitful behaviour and violent provocations we can at least assume from the means to his end that he's not a 'good guy' by the standard definition. I just used the term 'bad' to clarify how I was referring to the change in character.

But you're right, and hopefully this series will retain it's moral ambiguity up till the conclusion. It's a realistic take on ethicality that makes the series interesting.
