Note to self: Don't correct people on these forums. It is not appreciated. You just get accused of being an obsessive nutjob who "rages" on an "epic quest" when people are wrong.
And I know that the "please die" bit was over-the-line, and I would like apologize for that sincerely at this time. In my defense, I deleted it quickly. None of the rest of the post was personally insulting.

more like don't obsessively pick on absolutely every little thing that's false or that you just disagree with
I corrected each point that was wrong (and non of it was disagreement; it was all fact-based). I don't understand why this is instantly classified as "obsessive." :/
Got a 295 and I can't change resolutions from 800x600 without getting a crash message on desktop
just changed out to newest nvidia drivers same dam thing no matter what resolution I go above 800x600 crash and burn
$500.00 card and I get this shit
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Try adjusting the resolution parameter manually after setting all other options as you want them, those values stored in a simple config file called environment.cfg and it's located in the C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Atari\The Chronicles of Riddick\ or C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Atari\The Chronicles of Riddick\ depending on if you use Vista or XP. (Full folder name for the config file is a bit longer but it shouldn't matter once you find the Atari folder.)
Change the Vid_mode value to adjust the resolution, in my example it's "VID_MODE=1680 1050 32 60" which gives a width of 1680 and height of 1050 plus a bit depth of 32 and a refresh rate of 60
EDIT: Full config file (Altered line with profile name to avoid someone just copying it over and altering their user profile.)
The lines below lines might or might not be in your config file due to a bug.
XR_FLARES=-1
XR_WALLMARKS=-1
(Bullet/Blood decals on stuff like walls and characters, seems they disable themselves every time you exit the options menu unless you make the file read-only and alter the config file in the game folder as well.)
A couple of friends of mine are having this "black artifact" issue (no matter which os and drivers he uses), and it´s not the video card. Maybe some of the some jb mentions are missing?
It might be graphics related Pey, try disabling SSAO if it's enabled and see if it helps also don't use too much of those "optimization" options in the video card control panel (Both NVIDIA and ATI) unsure what drivers and video cards are used but I know that the leaked ATI Catalyst 9.5 alpha\ beta (or what it is) drivers have problems with SSAO in this title albeit I use them myself and aside from that they've worked great.
(Some people also recommend NVIDIA 182.xx instead of 185.xx but the latset 185.81 driver is supposedly very good, run it on the family computer which while a bit old still has a 7800 GTX but I can't really check any advanced features as that GPU model don't support them.)
The guy that posted that has a 8800ultra, he tried xp sp3, vista x64 and w7, with different sets of drivers. It´s actually a 8800gtx modded to ultra, but this is the only game having this strange issue, crysis, gta4, etc etc ruins fine.
Another driver then, heh I should check their site better.
While the method has both negative and a positive sides NVIDIA is very quick with beta driver releases for new features and fixes plus support for the latest titles for proper SLI and any GPU related issues but they can be somewhat problematic at times and updating the drivers often can be a bit of a bother if you go the full way with properly cleaning and removing the previous ones (Usually they're uninstalled when installing the display driver over but not everything is removed compared to doing a so called "clean install" albeit you often need programs to get everything.)
ATI on the other hand keeps to their one major driver a month deal with a hotfix for very urgent issues but it has the rather big disadvantage that if you're unlucky it can be up to over one and a half months wait before the driver fully supports the titles you are currently playing (Riddick for example.) or fixes a problematic bug with CCC or similar.
(They're also not as big as NVIDIA with title support like the "The way it's meant to be played" thing and also their CUDA/PhysX implementation for titles, unfortunately ATI won't support it even if possible to adapt a version as they're in with Intel and the Havok technology, shame as a unified and well supported Physics API would be welcome albeit hopefully NVIDIA will also support Havok when they go hardware accelerated.)
But I guess a lot could be said about it and it would take the thread a bit of topic to continue discussing it so going back to Riddick well there's not much I can say, still playing trough Butcher Bay but I haven't played much further in Dark Athena as I've been busy with other things and also other titles that's been released recently.
EDIT: Pey, while it could be a clock thing with the 8800 -> 8800 Ultra modification more titles should probably show errors such as artifacts and graphical corruption if it was the case, especially demanding titles like Crysis.
(Guess it's rather random though but the more demanding a game is the more stress is put on the hardware components.)
I read somwhere that "vca.bin" was tied to a specific hardware profile, and that might cause issues on certain hardcore components. Another guy usuing an ati 2600pro had similar artifacts. I beat both and has none of these issues... oh well... to hell with it lol
Seems these 2x00 Radeons have a lot of issues. Same was happening with GTA4 and some other games... Maybe ATI just doesn't care about that old hardware anymore.
Well after 2 days...i finished both games..hell best fps single player i eva played!
god i hope there will be another title or a movie....god hear me now plz...
1. copy dvm.dll and patch.exe in Win32_x86 folder

2. run patch.exe wait untill all is done

NOTE: !!! windows xp users the game will not work unless you copy Cracked folder

q. why do we need one darkc0der is teh best!
a. well ill just tell you whats the diffrence no?
1. we dont use tagesclient.dat\exe
2. game loads faster and have no bugs and gfx anomalies
3. my crack works with all furture updates
just replace dvm.dll after update from my crack and play
Might be interesting to test and compare just to see if it's different, could be that there are bugs with DarkC0ders crack but I've noticed no problems with it compared to the retail version.

Anyone actually tried this yet?

I have a freaky graphical corruption with the new driver.
As you can see a major portion of the screen turns white although you can still see through it somewhat.
If I minimise the game and then maximise it again, the corruption is gone, until I snap someone's neck or some other thing triggers the white shit.
