I heared that the Ms tech support actualy is very good you even get a loan 360..
so just call them.. but first put original firmware back and make you sure you have an intact ms sticker seal on it.
everyone will get RROD eventually. MS's bad xclamps are to be blamed. If you get the ones you can order online you wont ever get RROD again unless you play like 1-2 weeks nonstop (without turning it off). Got to xclamp mine when I get RROD again, but I just got my arcade so I guess it will work fine in 1,5-2 years... depends how much I play tho
I didn't get it. And a couple of friends, most of which bought it at launch or near launch, didn't get one either. None of us are hardcore gamers anymore though. I fire up my Xbox almost every day, but usually to watch some shows or a movie.

Nope. Many people still have launch consoles and never had a problem. Falcons have very low fail rate and Jaspers almost never fail.
wrong. They WILL get it eventually. They probably haven't played that much. Falcons fail too... there was a thread about this, 70% here have had RROD once or more. They are all made the same way... and its the SAME fault every time; no thermal paste between GPU/CPU and mobo. The guy who xclamped claimed it most likely never would go RROD again, and if it did xbox720++ is probably out anyway..
Surely the new versions have addressed the cracked block issue (or whatever it was).. Ive read even newer ones are not immune to RROD's but not sure what types of errors they are.. Given the odds tho, Its always in the back of my mind when I turn on my box that I purchased in Late February 09.
Just send it back, a couple of clicks of the mouse, sling the console in a old box with some newspaper and wait for UPS to knock.. you get a full working one in about a week, it couldn't be made any easier.

That's nonsense! I got the X-Clamp replacement the first time I got the RROD and yet it happened another two times. And I didn't play much at all.
Then you didn't do it properly. Can ask the guy who did mine, but he used gasoline with the thermal paste. Don't really know what the point in that was tho.
But seriously... EVERYONE will get RROD. In 3-4 years im sure 90-95% of launch consoles have RRODed. They are made the same way damnit, why should some few people not get RROD? They got some kind of magical thermal paste ?

really depends how much you play. Im sure there are people that will have their 360 for 4-5 years, but not many of them. Id imagine they where made more or less identically back when you got yours. They might have been built better now, but falcon or not doesn't have much to say I think... well I expect a RROD on my new Arcade in some years, but I cross my fingers^^

Well, I believe they guy who fixed them for a living. He only gave 1 year warranty, but had no returns yet. Of course I can't be 100% sure, but im about 93% The way MS make them today, they could last longer... I have no ide, but the old ones WILL fail
I can assure you it was done properly. It was done by one of Germany's best shops (Gamefreax) - they are reliable and they know what they are doing. They have at least 15 years modding experience.

Does you so-called expert have a Re-flow station?? Gasoline with the thermal paste??? Your full of shit!! Did he use a re-flow station then replace the x-clamps??? This is the proper way to fix the GPU connections. Wow, Gasoline.. was he too cheap to use a proper solvent??

Yes he did + the xclamps ordered from Germany or something. If you try to bend them they don't stay that way like the MS ones. I have really no ide what he used the gasoline for, but no im not talking out of my ass. At least I try not to... that his way is sooo much better iv no ide. But he talked about most people that xclamped/refill the way in the youtube video everyone have seen will most likely get RROD again after 3+ months.
...ok, maybe HE is full of shit. But he used gasoline for something, of that I am sure. If I get RROD on that console (now banned) in a year or so. Ill change my sig to "bigperm was right"
Many people dont know this but when you turn off your Xbox 360 it goes to standby mode. That's one of the reasons the old xboxes fail
Yep. Thats why when you plug something like a rockband controller i.e. drums, guitar it suddenly jumps into life for a brief second. (well, the little light around the xbox button flashes).
I've been through 7 xboxs in 3 years, or at least had 7 repairs (not sure how many were new consoles but at least 4). On my red jasper now so lets see if that can last a few months.
