Yes. Only nVidia hardware is like this. Everyone else (AMD, Intel, whoever), they all stop all research and development for six months after releasing their new flagship products, so that the people who bought them don't feel like their investment was a waste.
Are you just, like, not familiar with the technology industry at all?
I mean, c'mon...do you actually feel they should pause R&D work after every product release, just so that the people who bought that product don't feel butthurt later on? Everyone knows that computer hardware doesn't stay top-of-the-line for a few months. It's not like they're deceiving anyone. |
And with that, the eternal duel between these two titans has spilled forth into yet another world!

I did NOT see this one coming:
Quote: | EA got the message - you hate Digital Rights Management software. And as such, Dragon Age: Origins will only include the most basic of disc checks and no SecuROM whatsoever:
We’re happy to announce that the boxed/retail PC version of Dragon Age: Origins will use only a basic disk check and it will not require online authentication. In other words, the retail PC version of the game won’t require you to go online to authenticate the game for offline play. We have chosen not to use SecuROM in any version of Dragon Age that is distributed by EA or BioWare. |

EA seems to be abandoning heavy CP. The Sims will only have a serial check, some other games will probably lose online activation etc.

good for them...no DRM is pirateproof, the people who want to buy a game will buy it even if it is DRM free, and if the game is crap it doesn't matter what DRM you use people will not buy it

excellent, they got the message finally and they pretty much realized how useless DRM is since every protection gets cracked eventually and not everyone is gonna buy a limited-installs game
it's a bioware RPG so it's most likely to be successful in everyway, no need for a shitty DRM to sell the game

I think they've said last half of 2009. So maybe November 2009?

fixed | You can plunder your heart out on protected games too, this way they will save money by not paying sony/securom and gain customers that hate DRM, all that = big profit.
Besides where is the fun of pirating unprotected games.

i dont understand what they mean by offline play, since in early development i gave them hell for it not including co-op or multiplayer, or i think at that time a toolset, they basically said it wasnt worth the effort and NWN taught them that. i did tell them i think NWN should be considered R&D if they felt this way, and it was a complete waste for them to walk away from the concept. but anyways... long story short: no co-op or mp and im not buying it, at least not until its in the bargain bin, and it wont be long without mp. hell, Mass Effect is only around $15 on Amazon.com now. i think NWN Diamond is STILL $20.
