You can easily sneak around the mechs, if that didn't work butcher bay would have been impossible.

I got a question for those of you who have completed the Dark Athena campaign.

Is it true that it is impossible to do alot of steatlh action like in the Butcher Bay campaign? Or is just more challenging?

I would like to know as I'm considering buying this game.

Thx in advance.

Dark Athena is a lot easier than Butcher Bay imo. Not too sure about the stealth yet, only played it for about an hour.

There is a section later in the game where you have to run around in broad daylight, so stealth is pretty much impossible. But for most of the game stealth is definitely viable, just make sure you shoot out the lights.

I see, then it's not just a braindead run and gun campaign. Thx for the quick answer Smile

I thought there was alot less stealth in butcher bay as I had a gun for at least 3/4 of it and had no choice but to use it more often, having said that butcher bay is a much shorter game. But in dark athena I only really used guns in the last 1/4 of it and stealth and fighting for the rest.

Comparison between Butcher Bay and the Butcher Bay remake. Smile
(Nice to see the differences that clearly, didn't even think about it as I played the game.)

I think the last shot of the cell looked better on the old version, the wall texture and light model on the wall had more detail back then, the new one just looks bland.

Guys, you need to run the game first and when it asks for the serial cancel it and then the Tages folder will appear. Smile

Edit: Sorry Leo, I just wanted to give some help. Wink

I bought a license yesterday (just couldn't stand the waiting), so...is there a way to get rid of black bars?Or make'em smaller? On 1280x1024 they're huge. Though in the old game i got them only in dialogs and had quicksaves etc etc..

No, we have no bears on the streets here in Russia.

The combat is very very easy , you just need to think a bit , for example if you fighting with bare hands and the oponent has a knife and you block you will definitely get damage .

Also, butcher bay looks so damn good now .

counter attacks are the key, wait till your opponent is about to hit and press block and it'll start a counter attack move which he will die from instantly, or heavily damage him

Yep, you need to master counter-attacks if you want to do moderately well in boss battles in the harder difficulty settings. That big dude in Dark Athena, and the boss Bitch (the first battle), they are impossible without counter-attacks. Smile

It was like that in the first one as well, but was much easier back then. You could fast-hack (forward + attack) your way pretty much unharmed, but now, you won't make it much further with that strategy.

I mean for "scripted" counter-attacks, not just normal attacks. In EFBB and AoDA, I wait until they begin their attack animation - hit mouse1 - and *sometimes* it counters their attack with a scripted one of my own .. but only sometimes. Sad I'll try it with block instead!

I just realized a whole section of the PC original is missing... Is it possible that I missed it? In this version, Riddick takes a mech and goes to the officers' quarters. In the PC original, there used to be a section before that, where he takes another mech and goes through some hangars. Confused

from what i've experienced
Mouse 1 is correct for counters (also explained somewhere in the beginning @ bb i think), but timing needs to be tight!

when u sneak attack u do can press mouse 1 or mouse 2.

Well, I don't remember it being optional, or hidden, in the original, but I didn't get to play that section this time around?

You mean the mech bit where you face the flamingo droids, which is the only time you fight them? If so, it is there, and not optional, if you missed it, I don't know how.
