It uses a separate serial number so it shouldn't affect the base game in any way, somewhat unsure about online play however but the module should work. Smile

Has anyone tried to buy the module using the euro as currency? The price on the atari site stays in dollars, even though I live in an European country. Does this mean I only have to pay €7.5?

What's this extended download service?

http://www.digitalriver.com/addons/eds/

Awww, ain't that cute, BUT IT'S FUCKING WRONG!

For fuck's sake. Forget it. Atari has once again proved that they are fucking dumb fucks whose survival for all these years (dunno how many years it's been since they acquired the Atari name) is one of earth's greatest mysteries.

Leo's "rental" prediction works out correct. If you don't pay MORE money to those fat-cat cunts at Atari, then you only get access to your game - that you paid full retail price for, no less - for 30 fucking DAYS?!

$40 game. Yours for 30 days. WTF is that about?

Yeah it's fucking stupid. The only benefit of digital content delivery, and they fuck it up.

What really pisses me off is how they're trying to spin it off as them keeping the software on their servers for you for 2 years. Why? Are they going to delete the stuff? It's not going anywhere. Fucking rental system.

Wait, what? I pay 40 bucks for a game and then I can only download it for 30 days and after that I'm screwed?
Thank god steam hasn't implemented something like that Very Happy

But like already mentioned, that defeats the purpose of digital distribution so...

I only know of the Gold set, which is NWN2 and the first expansion bundled. That's the one I have, then I bought the second expansion seperately.

Luckily, Storm of Zehir is so badly boring and lame, you can safely go with that Gold set and consider it "complete NWN2" (plus Mysteries of Westgate, of course).

It is a bit weird, but I assume there are people falling for it thinking "hey it's just three bucks!". With thousands of people that three bucks adds up of course. Digital distribution has evolved into a great method to get more money. Sure it has helped small developers, but big publishers use it just to earn more. It's disgusting.

I like what they were trying to accomplish in SoZ, though it was pretty much hard to do from the start thanks to the engine.

I thought SoZ was a lot of fun. Not as consistently good as MotB but still a really great effort and a great throwback to older classics like Darklands. It's one of those games where I can point out a million flaws and things that I'd want to change personally, but the game still holds an undeniable appeal to me. I keep coming back to it.

Also, I'm liking MoW. It's definetely pretty long for a DLC type of thing, and it's quite fun. Pretty different than MotB and SoZ I would say. It feels closer to the city segments ofthe Baldurs Gates to me. Challenging too.

The overland map and the attempt for a dynamic economy that the player could somehow affect. Oh and basically the potential for lots of random events. The problem was the engine and the annoyingly long loading times. Which I figure was another reason for those one room dungeons.

But yeah, more Overland in upcoming D&D games please.

i think what he is talking about is that when you purchase the game you only have 30 days to download it unless you also purchase some extended download time plan. after that you still have your key i imagine, just not the installation package.

not sure if you can install it using your own key and another installer, like having a legit key but installing via the scene release.

Thanks, bud .. but no thanks. The last time I played NWN2 on my 4850, it ran like ass. I'm NOT paying €50 for a game I can't even run in anything higher than Medium settings at a low resolution.

I'll just grab the original game and try it that way.

Strange, I have similar setup to yours, and I can play with everything on high. Maybe try reducing some shadows options, I think that slows things down a bit.

Try running with just low shadows or completely off, in NWN2 they overdid them and they are very high quality and drain a lot of resourses from comp

JB and I were having a discussion about it a while back. I had nothing but a nightmare experience with NWN2 and its god awful framerate. Most the time I struggled to get 25fps -- and during specular effects the framerate would often drop into the teens.

Opteron 165 @ 3Ghz + 8800GT = poor performance.
AthlonX2-4800 @ 3Ghz + 8800GT = poor performance.
AthlonX2-4800 @ 3Ghz + 4850 = poor performance.
Core2 E7200 @ 3.4Ghz + 4850 = poor performance.

.. I've not tried it on my 4870 yet :-\

AthlonX2-6000+ @ 3.1Ghz + 9600GT = 34-41fps

works fine

Low settings isn't "fine" to me, I'd rather just play the superior NWN1. Or let me guess, you run it maxed? Rolling Eyes
