It's like everyone want's to be the next WoW, make your game appeal to the majority of players..

Haven't they noticed yet that games like that usually tank though?

Why don't they ever show real game play?
That's not how Battlefield (any of them) ever play out. They missed:

-Tanks camping spawns
-Planes nosediving into tanks
-Engineers running straight up to a tank and spamming mines
-Tanks running over friendly mines that Stevie Wonder could see

I love how the trailers always try to make BF out to be realistic warfare Very Happy

It's (most likely) gonna be 10 or 15 bucks, and it looks better than most games in that price range.

strange the CoD series killed BF... unbelievable but im sold. i find it hard to believe since CoD has always been sort of console friendly (which i despise).

i cant imagine going back to BF after CoD4 and WaW. they are gonna have to bring it and i just dont see it happening.

Bullshit. BF2 is as populated as it was 2 years ago. Has about 20k players every night and Bad Company has tons of player too.

Yes but with extra maps that can be downloaded at extra cost no doubt , which if it matches the previous games of around 9 maps would make it 30-45 and thats if its any good and people buy it, just because its cheap doesnt mean its allowed to be shit or look crap we are not setting the price they are and if that is how low they value their game........................ Personally i want it to be a good game , i like BF2 and its addons/mods they just need to stop fucking around update the graphics and bring it up to todays visual standard instead of using kiddie cartoony graphics with terrible score systems ala heroes, which im glad i signed up for the beta as thats one game i wont be wasting my money on now.

I got it and was royally ripped off! I tried the EA download thingamabob (ala their version of Steam) played it for a month I actually bought it twice so my Son could go online with me. I think it was 50 bucks each. I didn't mind that because I always misplace disks and Steam has been a pretty good experience for me thus far. BUT, this EA bullshit only allows you to download a game for 6 fucking months! After that you are beat. Now they offer a two year extended download time for I think 10 bucks. But when I got the game a couple years ago that wasn't an option. I installed Vista and BF2142 had/has issues on 64 Vista Ultimate so I waited for it to get resolved. I just assumed it was like Steam and I could get it whenever I wanted to play again. So this brings up the question. Is there a time limit for Steam? So far I have had no issues getting Half Life 2 whenever, wherever I want. But I never read the fine print (if there is any that is.)

It's ok, if they keep their promise. Will be interesting to see how frostbite performs on PC.

I have EA Downloader version of BF2124 too but I also got a cdkey with it. I can use that cdkey with clone DVD version of the game so I don't have to use EA Downloader.

It just looks like re modelled ww2 units still using an old shitty battlefield 2 engine does it not?

true, but that may only be because BF2 sells for $10 or less. im glad its still very much alive online, but for me i would not prefer BF2 online over CoD4. i tried some of the great mods for BF2, just not many others were trying them at that time. and cheating seemed much more rampant in BF2 imo than CoD4, but that may just be because CoD4 has the kill view that helps my opinion of a legit kill, lol.

they both have their perks, no doubt, im just saying having played them all i find CoD superior online, ymmv.

Did you really just compare Frostbite's "destruction" to GeoMod? Really?

Oh please, GeoMod has tons of flaws too. Let's take Red Faction 3 for example, while structures have nice destruction nothing else does. Ground is completely indestructible in RF3, and vehicles are either completely fine or explode into pieces, you can't tear them apart like buildings. In some cases GeoMod in RF3 is quiet a downgrade after RF1 and 2 (no more tunnel digging). Frostbite engine doesn't have as good building destruction as in GeoMod, but at least you get a hole in a ground after a powerful tank shell explodes. In RF3 buildings look like boring empty cardboard boxes waiting to be destroyed, in BC at least they look like buildings.

Glottis ahemm ??? you know that RF3 its from ground up a console game, consoles would not handle the stress if buildings+ground+wind+derbits+shaders+etc was at the same time on the screen, they allready masking the low 25fps or lower in RF3 with motion blur... plus ehem RF2 didn't had no geomode deforming because of it being a ps2 title!!!

but if it was from ground up a PC game then you would have seen your holes

It wasnt ported if im not all wrong. It was just being made for 3 platforms simultaniously while ps2 was the first one to be finished.
