The latest is 1.5.1 and in 2 weeks 1.6, why would you want outdated 1.5?
To reflash you don't need any special card. The best is to use onboard sata, ICH7, ICH9 are the best.

It's the same process, nothing changes. You just flash like you did it the first time.

I was on 1.41 with my Benq, yesterday I flashed to 1.51 with jungleflasher it's not the same as before much simpler, no booting to dos with usb you can do it all from windows the trickiest part was reading the god damn instructions, finally I found them on a forum. Also I had some trouble installing the poi32 driver, everything else was much easier than before, I won't rush with 1.6 at this rate I will rather wait for 1.7 or 1.8, opening the xbox and setting up my second comp with VIA is a bitch, I will wait until I buy the via sata card from ebay so I can flash it from this comp.

You don't need VIA card for flashing, actually it's recommended to NOT use VIA with JungleFlasher.

Yeah I read that somewhere but it worked and I can play Riddick, anyway it didn't work on my Intel for some reason it didn't recognize my xbox, maybe it requires a certain sata port I only have one sata free on this comp.

Luckily im on x86
Thanks for the help guys, now it seems as if the actual opening of the 360 is the hardest part (seeing as i can do this with any SATA chipset?)
Just connect the drive to the PC and use power from the Xbox. Easy enough, it seems |
Exactly, and btw, you don't need torx10 driver for opening if you don't have one, I used | shaped driver and opened successfully.

You running a benq? I know the hitachi's need to be put into mode B before windows will see them (easiest way is to hook up via sata and use the slax boot disc).
Using jungleflasher you'll need your original keys for the xbox. There is an inbuilt tool that can recreate them in JF but it doesn't always work. Without the original keys, JF won't flash (again, case of hitachi. Not sure about all drives)
As for sata controllers, most nowadays seem to work. I've used intels and nvidia's to flash my drives.
Just make sure the xbox and PC are connected via a wire or something (anything that conducts. I use a metal ruler and some gaffer tape to hold it in place). Floating earths could potentially kill you xbox (or PC I guess).

There is some mention of that 'half-tray opening' trick not sure what that's for I couldn't get the hang of it, you should open you xbox tray then pull the plug when it closes again half way.
Yes it is mentioned in the "how to flash for dummies guide" you should always 'ground' your xbox and pc by connecting them, I simply put the xbox on top of the pc so they are touching each other.

Much simpler solution, install win xp or something in dual boot, only takes 45 minutes (with drivers and all) you will save time in the end as jungle is way faster then dos+usb+5 other programs.

Will it work with VMware? I could just install XP on a virtual machine.

Nope, does not work. I'll dualboot when 1.6 is released.
