I'm sorry I wasn't here five years ago and I'm not part of the "old crowd" - but I honestly don't get what the problem is.

Lol, Naish is not one of the older generation of NFOrce members, very few of those left posting, unfortunately. Sad

Yea, I'm defenitely not one of the older guys, they're all long gone. The only people I recognize from when I started posting are probably you and Spykez, and that's only because you two always made the threads interesting. I mostly just come here for the thread titles, but then I make the mistake of clicking one, and sometimes I even make the mistake of posting Smile.

And sabin1981, I didn't mean to slam you in my post, just try not getting into arguments every time someone doesn't agree. Try the "I thought it was like this?" approach.... Nobody likes the "NO, THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS!" guy.

Come on Naish, living in the past is pointless. There were some cool guys before, there are cool guys now. (My account is old, but I am not one of the 2004 guys, so I am not hardcore NFOrce member either.) Stuff changes, no big deal. Smile

Also, you know I've made you laugh with some of my UE3 posts. Razz Don't know why you don't post that much anymore.

Your cpu is very low clocked. PCSX2 is dual core optimized, so its using only 2 cores of your low clocked i7. PCSX2 is the best in 3.5-4Ghz range.

So could I theoretically get good speeds out of this machine? Should I crank down the clocks on the other 2 cores and crank up the two main cores?

Yes, emulator is extremely CPU dependent so every extra MHz you can squeeze will help. I'm not sure how overclocking works on i7 thou.

You could absolutely get good speeds out of your machine, bud. An i7 would be great for this - but you need to OC it. The emulator doesn't use all four cores (unless you take my previous advice and go for Software mode in GSDS and set it to use 6-7 threads)

Clock it 3.4Ghz and beyond to get playable speeds on most anything you throw at it.

this "Software mode "
is not damage the processor like OC does, right?
I might try it{when my new PC will arrive}

Nope, it doesn't damage the CPU in any way. It basically tells the emulator to process graphics on the CPU rather than the GPU. Usually that's VERY slow, but with the high-end Quads and the i7, people are reporting substantial performance boosts - especially as GSDX is multithreaded, allowing the use all threads/cores on the chip.

I have a PS2 under my 32" TV right now. I have my PS2 emulator on my PC which I'm currently USING.

I never said the emulator was better than the PS2 hardware itself. I said it LOOKS better - and to anyone with a pair of eyes; it does.

I'm interested in seeing the visual differences. Can you please post screenshots comparing the two?

Well, I don't know what good it would do mate - emulator and plugin builds change daily, so any upload would be almost instantly out of date -- and worse; newer plugins are sometimes worse (compatibility/bug wise) than older ones, and they unfortunately share the same filename so it's overwrite Sad

Follow Pey's link to get the latest PCSX2 as of today, and it also includes all the latest plugins too.

To be honest; no, not really.

I would have to take snaps of my TV using the only camera I have; a 2MP camera phone. That would just invite certain people to whine at me about quality and "unfair comparison" Besides, it's a lot of bloody hassle Razz

I got it up from 2.8 to 3.3Ghz with no noticeable increase still sticks around 48% 24 or so FPS. Could it be that I have some plugin settings wrong? still trying with Sly Cooper 1.

Some games? They just run poorly on the emulator.

I messed around with a few settings and ignored a couple of slow parts in the very beginning and its actually quite playable now mostly around 95% with the occasional dip to 70. I think if I OC the CPU a few hundred more MHz I'll have it perfect. Thanks for the advice sabin.

I've not tried Sly Cooper, so I honestly wouldn't be able to say what settings work and what doesn't - but I'm glad you've had a play around and managed to tweak it a little Smile

OH undoubtedly No$GBA, mate. Get 2.6a (the A is VERY important)

It's the best emu. Runs almost all NDS ROMS. Almost.

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training? It's *supposed* to, the emulator does have mic-support .. but I've never tried, so I couldn't help you :-\

If No$ doesn't work, then get iDeaS. It's not as good, despite being in development for a lot longer - and STILL in development. No$, unfortunately, looks like it's now abandoned... Martin, the dev, hasn't been seen for over a year.

Use an app called "MyZoom" -- it not only enlarges the screens, but you can also rotate them Smile
