Schaefer Brothers are so pathetic ... can't they even TRY to make something else than a diablo clone ? (all they ever do is that , it seems.... except without the rigorous QA from blizzard) ....

"dont touch"
If it's anything like Mythos, more power to them.
That game was fun.

pff lessons learned from these idiots, don't buy their shit. Granted a lot of stupdity came from that dip shit bill roper
It's amazing how quickly some people are to fall a person in the back when that person make one bad product. Bill Roper was the guy who pioneered Warcraft 1,2 and Diablo, but lets just forget that so we can insult the guy instead.

Yes, I'll agree that the comment is indeed ignorant BUT the choices made during the game were fucking retarded. There was a lot of huge threads and ideas going on during beta that they fully ignored, level design was bitched about like no other and nothing was done about it, that stupid mission where it switches to RTS mode, we had great ideas on making it better or just remove it all together, nothing on it changed and you'd still get slaughtered by enemies you can't see off screen.
Also i wasn't a fan of the warcraft games or Diablo 1, just DII and LOD
Mythos was fucking awesome, it was a bit slow at the early levels, but once you found yourself a guild, and got into some nice PvP action, it was really great...
Hellgate London SUCKED ass yes, but Mythos was a whole other game.
The game (the MMO version that is) Runic is making will be like Mythos, not Diablo.
Of course, Mythos was very similar to Diablo, but it was also different in some senses. It had quite an open world, and its devs were very quick with content updates. I definitely believe this Torchlight will be a great game, at least the MMO version. However, I also think it won't get very popular, because it'll probably be released after D3 or around the same time... The screens they've released of torchlight looks quite like D3, I agree... But it's not meant to look like D3, it's meant to be in the same style as Mythos, and Mythos looked more like WoW if anything.
I still despise Hanbitsoft for taking over Mythos and not including the EU/US in it, but on the other hand, they don't have the rights to those regions. God damn it, I still hate this... Mythos had so much potential, it really could've been great.
Mythos was a lot like Fate.
As it should be since the guy who made Fate went to work on Mythos.
EDIT: NOT FABLE. Fate.

Haha, first, I thought to myself "what the hell, fable?", but then I figured you meant the graphical style or something...
But yes, it was a lot like Fate indeed, a very improved one. Wasn't the guy behind fate working with them on Mythos? I believe I've read that somewhere (though I might be imagining it)...
Fate was very popular amongst the Flagship employees and they asked the creator to jump onboard which he did. So yes, he was involved in Mythos.

Anyway, when I got into the beta for Mythos, I didn't even bother with Hellgate anymore.
Yes. Mythos should have been the main game and Hellgate the side project.
Mythos could have been their pay per month cow while Hellgate could have survived without a subscription and expansions.

i think mythos was supposed to be a test platform for HG... f--king strange i know cause yea i agree mythos had the most long term potential of the 2, and thats only because development on HG as a MMO was TERRIBLE!
i mean i think it was live what? a year? and there was ONE event and 1 patch, lol.
dont get me wrong either, i thought HG was great... i even bought into the founder garbage.

Don't feel like the the lone ranger. So did I.
I loved it's premise and all. But I have to admit, in the end trying to make it a monthly subscription game killed it. they should have switched HG to non subscription and made Mythos the sub game. Gave the founders enough expansions free to repay the 150 bucks. Plus... they really made some dumb decisions like trying to simultaneously release HG in so many countries. And, I think they went a little over the top with marketing spending myself.

I wish I'd played this a lot when it was in English. Now that I'm in Korea I can use my ARC to get access to the game, but since it was 100% in Korean , I was completely lost.

I want to play so bad. Screw the rest of the world, I absolutely LOVED Hellgate

I loved Hellgate as well. I just think they really screwed the pooch with their marketing and how they went sub. I would have loved to have seen it with more content updates and expansion packs.

I didn't buy into the "pay monthly" aspect of the game, so I missed out on what little content expansion they *did* have ... but still, I wish it hadn't failed

yeah. I wish it hadn't failed as well.
I am hoping something live action like that comes down the pike again as far as MMO's go.
Huxley maybe.
If we ever get it.

if wasnt a MMO it would have been received alot better. if it had been LAN play or free online like Diablo 2 would have made a huge difference.
what i bitched most about (especially after i plunked down my $150), was the world design. it wasnt like EVE which imo is the perfect MMO design, lots of places to go (maybe too many), but the security ratings are what works so well. in certain areas PvP will trigger the NPC's to kill the aggressor, in others you just get the right to get revenge anywhere, and still in others no one is paying attention and its a FFA. nope, in HG it was like a single player game all the way, and when you went into the streets of London, it was instanced and no one was there but NPC's and your party. if you wanted PvP, you teleported to some gay ass arena *shrugs*. just piss poor design to ask someone to pay $10 a month for.
so if you was looking for a 3D Diablo 2 clone in a Sci-Fi setting, HG was freaking awesome and thats about all it claimed to be giving who brought it to us. but as a MMO it was piss poor design and its what killed it.
i really dont see how the studio went bankrupt so fast, are the servers really that expensive to run? how does Massive get away with running game servers for years for Ground Control and WiC for free online (plus their titles are usually around $30) when HG cannot even last a year?
i dont see how HG got a green light as a MMO when it could not weather 2-3 years of online development to build up.

On Nov. 12 local time, Korea-based game developer HanbitSoft announced in Novotel Ambassador Hotel located in Tokyo, Japan that, the re-development of the MMO Hellgate: London authorized by the former Flagship Studio had been completed. The new project is entitled Hellgate: Resurrection, which is slated for beta test on Nov. 17 and official launch on Dec. 8. Monthly Subscription and Free Basic Content will be the two business models adopted in the game.
Hanbisoft only got the rights for the game there wereas the other rights ended up somewhere else (Unsure about what happened, Namco Bandai I believe had them.) when Flagship went under.
