Well MS does pay developers for similar things, LIVE on PC titles DLC exclusivity and so on, some devs also take money from advertisers (Far Cry 2 billboards for example) and more could probably be mentioned.
That said this'll just hurt the game overall if the PS2/PS3 sales aren't good enough though perhaps a bit can be regained with some revenue for the X360 and PC sales.
(Unless everyone is fed up and just pirates it as a form of revenge, I don't care which way to be honest you can do what you want and I'm sure they'll earn a bit from console sales regardless though the PC version probably won't sell that much.)
EDIT: Yeah you're right, difference between a DLC and such and a entire game.

There's a massive difference between DLC exclusivity and entire GAME exclusivity .. especially multi-platform games that were originally due for release at the same time, or as close to it as possible. Changing publisher and having that one publisher lock the title to specific platforms is just fucking wrong.
(before any internet heroes try to jump on me; don't fucking bother. I'll ignore anything you have to say on the matter)

That's good news for a PS3 Owner.... like me.
PS, Microsoft pays for exclusivity rights to more than just DLC.
I personally think the entire exclusivity thing is retarded, especially buying it. It's wrong on both ends, and picking one over the other is like hating saying you hate rap music but love hiphop. Potatoe Potahtoe.

Another thing to remember is sony own the rights to the movies also, seeing as the game is released on the anniversary of the first movie it makes sense.
Sure Microsoft do the exclusive bullshit but they give a lot more warning about it unlike sony who say this is ours now so the rest of you can piss off, also the exclusive rights are only for the pal regions.
Still a bit shitty seeing as there is more than one format developed for the game ie PC/360/wii
on which note nintendo aint gonna be happy either.
