So all the files except these 3 go into root game dir? I am asking coz I don't have the game installed now and wanna properly archive the patch for future use.

with these files or do i need to first install the
Fear.2.Project.Origin.v1.01.Multiplayer.Enabler.Update-iND
then
the F2Update3 files
then the
FEAR2.rar files

and then change files to correct dir

?????

keep getting error code 54
DIE release installed works fine
installed 1.01 and steam and that loads fine
however just the error code from trying to start with the 1.03 files installed
have nearly ever file in every folder at this stage Sad
wonder if someone that got it working could put it in the correct file structure
but leave out the DLC01.Arch01 file
this would bring an upload down to approx 70mb Confused

You don't need any previous patches, 1.03 is a full patch, not incremental.

It's interesting, because this patch doesn't have a Layer01_v101.Arch01 file. So does this mean I can delete this file, as Layer01_v102.Arch01 includes the latest changes?

Hmmm i´m not so sure about that. Check "default.archcfg", "Layer01_v101.Arch01" is still in there, which means the game probably uses it. But if glottis installed 1.03 only and didn´t need it... then u can delete it.

I didn't install yet, but JB extracted patched files from installshield archive which is named fear2_update_v100-to-v103.exe. I mean it's pretty obvious that it's a full patch and not incremental (meaning it doesn't require previous patches).

Yeah I think that's correct, perhaps the v101 archive files were merged into the v102 archive and the old file (101) is only there if you update from a previous patch (Or via Steam as that'll download all files.)

It´s the same as copying a crack, finding it is sometimes the issue. Nothing that google cant handle anyway...

Sorry I can't remove the actual protection so this loader method is the only alternative for now, also I couldn't upload the files if I had tampered with the protection due to the site rules. Smile

It's pretty easy to handle once you get the hang of it but I can understand why people can find it annoying and cumbersome as it's not as smooth as just overwriting a EXE file and playing.

Using the original cracked EXE with the updated files could work however it's untested as some code changes in the EXE might not work properly or how to best describe it.

Who cares? It works. This is even better, because it will work with the next patch, and the one after that, without having to wait for some scene group to decide to crack.

the correct instaltion is this:

install fear 2 die version
install FEAR.2.Update.v1.01-DREiTAGEWACH
isntall f2update3 files but not the fear2.exe
the fear2.rar in not necesary
note:f2update3 files dir:
X:\FEAR 2\GAMES\clientfx.fxd
X:\FEAR 2\GAMES\gameclient.dll
X:\FEAR 2\GAMES\gameserver.dl
introtitles.vib goes to X:\FEAR2\Game\interface\videos
the rest files is in the main dir X:\FEAR 2

I can't get it to work with updated files whether I use JB's stuff or the renaFUSED stuff. The game either crash when I press space (after it has loaded, with JB's stuff or the .exe from DiE original release) or I get "Application load error 5:0000064545" using the rev-loader or the new exe.

Perhaps it's the VC++ files, perhaps it's the PhysX files. Bah!
