Zeno Clash is an action/fighting game set in a punk
fantasy world. The game is played from a first person
perspective and the combat is generally up close and
brutal.
Experience a deep storyline set in a fantastic world.
Play the role of Ghat, a man banished by his own
brothers and forced to begin a desperate journey
past the forbidden desert and to the end of the world.
Nominated in Excellence in Visual Art at the
Independent Games Festival, the original visuals, which
make full use of the Source engine features, breathe new
air in the fantasy game genre. The new close combat
mechanics are also a deviation from traditional action
in the first-person genre that will feel fresh for new
and veteran players.

Haven't posted much about this, took around three or so hours to beat (normal difficulty.) game bugged though and gave all achievements at the end ( )
Good combat though the levels are pretty small and mostly arenas where you fight a group of enemies and move on, still if you liked old fighting games you'll probably like this, just don't expect a good story, it does have one but it's pretty messy and badly told, ends with what I would say is a cliffhanger as well and pretty abruptly too.
Not that brutal though despite what the screens show, you knock most enemies out and don't kill them only for them to re-appear at later levels although the variety of moves you have are pretty good and the design/artwork is truly unique or what to say. (Beast people and weird mix of modern and prehistoric technology.)
Visuals are solid as well for a Source driven game and the engine is very optimized so it runs great.
(Sounds for punches and kicks are a bit so-so however but they work.)
All in all I don't regret the 9 EU or so that I paid when the game was 50% off but I would probably think twice at buying it at full price.
(You have to like the whole fighting thing despite it's flaws and short playtime.)
(Not that it matters now with a release out, just download and play, comment on your experience or just delete it if you don't like the game, hehe.)

This game had the most nonsensical plot I've ever heard of. It's as if someone took some LSD, smoked some dog-shit laced with crack cocaine, and then sat down to write characters/plot/art direction. There's artistic license, and then there's this. Felt like something out of Beetle Juice but without any heart.
The combat was OK but often proved clunky. The gun-play sucked and was completely unnecessary.
Don't get me wrong - I realize that the dev team consisted of like 10 people. It was a good effort but ultimately very repetitive and soulless.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

the design is beautiful, strange world indeed, it's a beautiful game.
only drawback is that it's short and is pretty much only one arena after the other

i'm pretty sure the only part where riddick is better than this is the length (and if we ignore the bbay remake, we're left with dark athena which prolly ain't that much longer).
zenoclash is pretty damn awesome. i haven't found such unbelievably satisfying combat since godhand and yakuza 2 (which were superb, but nowhere near as immersive).
