I have to repeat Odyssey 5 that I mentioned in another thread.

Of sci-fi films I much prefer the "thinking" sci-fi movies, ie:

Blade Runner
Dark City
STALKER
Solyaris
Children of Men
Gattaca
Metropolis
12 Monkeys
Brazil
Primer
The Matrix

etc...

Not even gonna mention Alien (as it doesn't fit in the above category anyway), every man and his dog should have seen it by now Wink

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards

Seen it lol, I guess I'm mostly interested in space travel and alternate universes, that type of thing. I also like futuristic style concepts.

STALKER was amazing, but Tarkovsky's work isn't really that much "scifi". The setting may be scifi but the stories are always about asking big questions about mankind. Very metaphysical stuff.

Seen those too, all great films. I think all the best films scifi films are definitely pre 2000. Other than sunshine I can't think anything of substance from 2000 onwards

I haven't seen the Tarkovsky Solaris, only the newer one. It got a really poor score which I don't understand because I really liked Soderbergh's version.

I'm gonna download Stalker for sure but is the older Solaris different enough to merit a viewing ?.

No wonder, it was originally written by one of smartest men of his time (Carl Sagan).

I gave it 60 minutes. And I couldn't stand the horrible CGI, the lamentable actors, and the stale atmosphere and crap soundtrack.
